We have so many members now and as we approach the one year anniversary of the pet food tragedy it would be interesting to know how we all came together.

I found Itchmo through petconnection.com, but I'm not really sure how I found petconnection.  It was within a day or two of the first news releases about the contamined foods in March.  I can't remember exactly where since I was watching dozens of tv news stations, listening to dozens of radio stations, reading a 100 articles on the Internet trying so desperately to get a hold on what exactly was happening and in complete shock.  There was no single resource to refer to anywhere outside of petconnection and Itchmo once they started the onslaught of member posts.

Through these two forums I was able to start piecing together the horrific implications of the contaminated foods and have educated myself beyond belief on all aspects of pet foods and care giving.

Nuff said.  I'm in a better place today thanks to Itchmo.

Like you, Nabiya, I found Itchmo through Pet Connection. I got to Pet Connection somehow from some conversation in a chat room on eBay about the time the recall surfaced. It quickly became a non-issue there, but the wealth of discussion about animals here and on Pet Connection has blossomed so much since then.

A twist on the old Paul Simon song about getting all the news he needs on the weather report.

To be honest I cannot remember how I came upon Itchmo. I believe that at the start of the recalls I had Googled "pet food recall" and it was one of the links that came up. So glad I found it as it and it's members have been a wealth of knowledge and also supported me and others during difficult times. As an added bonus it also provided me with a few new friends!  Smiley

I too found Itchmo after Howl911 then Pet Connection - not sure how exactly, but I was desperately googling for information every day after the news stories broke. I am so glad for all of you  here and all the information and support.

Just "the luck of the dumb".

I did a Google search on "pet food" something or another, and Itchmo came up.

I found it thru dumb luck on a search also.Found the petfoodlist or petconnection first & followed the links to Itchmo, Howl911 & the petfoodtracker. Thank goodness for luck,I don't know what would have happened this past year without all of you & these sites.

I also googled for recall info & itchmo was the first one that came up.  Howl911 came later for me & I only occasionally visited petconnection much later in reference to some itchmo posts.

For awhile I just read & posted on the main itchmo page, then one day decided to look at the forums.  I registered on April 14, '07 & posted the pet food store that I go to in those state listings of stores that carried safe foods--remember those?  There weren't many threads & posts at that time & so I went back out on the main page where it was really cooking on some days.  When I checked the forums a month or so later, they had really taken off.  I rarely go to the main news page anymore.  Too much going on here!

I have to laugh at these responses......I HAVE NO CLUE how I wound up on Itchmo.  I found Pet Connection & Itchmo about the same time & checked them daily.  I used to post on the main page of Itchmo & would see people talking about a thread on the forums.......I didn't want to look stupid & ask "what the hell are the forums?"Huh??  Then silly me saw "forum" on the top of the page & clicked on it......voila.  I read for a long time but never posted but once I started, I didn't stop......tee hee.

Lucky for me I found both these sites within a week or two of the beginning of the black days of '07.  Could never express how very grateful I am to this website & all of you.  I was calling & emailing friends with info on new recalls that never went public & I'm very thankful I was able to find & share that information.

Amazing how Itchmo started up in Feb & most of us found it in Mar......what a blessing it turned out to be.

Hannah & I thank you....... Grin

Frantically searching the 'net looking for information.  I had a senior cat dying at the time, and another senior cat with early CRF and didn't know what to feed or where to turn for safe food for my fur kids.  The media was doing such a horrible job of covering it and local news was pathetic.

Actually, I think I found Pet Connection googling "pet food recall".  Pet Connection had a link to the Pet Food List and to Itchmo.  Didn't even notice the forum link for awhile.  Then I just tried to read and absorb all the posts here for a few weeks before I even registered.  I was amazed at the community that had developed here and the information everyone here had posted, so many people looking out for each others pets.  Felt like I was sleep walking for the longest time.

I'm certain a lot of people here have helped my pets and me with all their information sharing.

I googled something like 'pet food recall' and somehow PetConnection was among the links. From there I followed a link to Itchmo (and all the rest) I remember reading about a "forum' starting and looked around, but mainly just read both blogs until things quieted down, then came back here. Now I seldom read the 2 main blogs.

My husband and I were on an airplane shortly after the pet food recall started.  My two dogs were having trouble with their poop and some vomiting and I was scared it was related to the recall.  My husband was reading one of the USA today newspapers on the airplane and there was an article in it about Itchmo and a couple of other sites and how the activity on the sites had gone crazy since the recall started.  I ripped out the article and viola, the Itchmo gang helped me through the poop and vomiting.

I was typing in "pet food recall" ont he search engine to find any news articles I could because there was so little recall information on the TV news (sometimes the local news had more than the national). I found an article on three websites that were covering the recall - maybe the same one ChelsandPhoebs found. The rest is history . .

I found Itchmo through PetConnection after finding PetConnection by hearing Dr. Marty Becker from that site in an interview on a local TV news report on the pet food recall.  I also found howl911 through PetConnection.  I didn't notice the forums on Itchmo for a few days, but since I did, I have read them every day.  Actually, read all three sites (Itchmo, PetConnection, and howl911) every day.  Then howl911 went down in June sometime.  Still read the other two every day and have learned many, many things from both.  I wasn't personally affected by the pet food recall, but when it all started, no one knew from day to day who would be next.  I read faithfully and passed info along to friends and relatives about the sites and about the news so that they were aware and could keep their own pets safe.

I found Itchmo at Pet Connection.  Don't remember where I found Pet Connection,
maybe a newspaper article.  When the recall hit, I checked my pets' food and found
ALL of them on the list.  I was terrified.  Yet, none of my pets seemed ill.  I watched
them like a hawk for weeks and worried every time I imagined they were acting funny.
All I can figure is maybe the batches I had were newly bought and maybe the previous
batches were not on the list.  I'll never know.
But I needed information and suggestions for finding new foods that were safe.  Too
bad I didn't come here soon enough to avoid "kitty krack"!  I joined the forums after
reading karvskittties posts breaking down nutritional information on cat food.  I wanted
to ask her some questions and she was really nice and helpful.

I came on board Itchmo at the heat of the on-going recalls... sometime mid-April.  Before that, I was on the computer, searcing and reading EVERYDAY various anecdotal reports on the effects of the tainted food - mostly in Howl911, PetConnection, the PetFood List.  I followed the link to Itchmo from one of these sites.  Then Itchmo also became a daily read... like so many people here, my eyes were hanging off my head from all the stuff I had to read through each and everyday from Mid-March through to May (I think).
