Seeing that Chami really dislikes the feel of silica bead litter (the others don't love it either, but that's all they've known since living with me since they were 2 months old...they are now 14 months)......Today I got a new litter box (this one is not automatic) and decided to try paper litter (I'm using a Japanese brand recommended by a friend, and the litter is cylindrical, is a clumping type, and is white).

I put some of the old (used) silica in with the paper litter and all is set up and everybody has gone up to check it out.  I have it next to the old litter box.

But Lulu, the inquisitive and naughty one of the bunch, has gone up to it a few times now, smelling and then licking it, almost like she wants to taste it.  She'll put a piece in her mouth and then flick her head a couple times and it pops out.

I know it will/could take at least a few days for them to want to try out the box as a bathroom, but how should I be dealing with Lulu and her taste tests?

Oh my gosh!  Someone pooped in the new litter box when I wasn't looking!

YAY!

And oh dangit, I wanted to see it!.....but I'm actually thinking it might have been Lulu because it was dainty.   Cheesy

Your just going to have to set up a camera!   Tongue

I've thought of doing that just to see what they do when I'm out of the house.

I've caught 2 of my cats eating cylindrical paper litter in the past (Yesterday's News).   Angry  They will sometimes play with stray pieces. The dogs will eat it, too, if they find a piece.
