It's PEACE, not war & greed, earthlings!

I stumbled upon this web-book entitled, MacRAE's BLUE BOOK

  http://www.macraesbluebook.com/

It is quite a powerful company name/product description search tool, which I highly recommend to each and every one who reads this post.  You just might be amazed at the results your searches land!

The summaries are not chock full of details, but they are revealing and they list the address, phone and sometimes fax number and the web page of the companies.  As well, if you are interested, you may obtain a quote for goods!

Here are just a couple facts I learned today ...

Frito Lay has their hand in the pet food industry and wholesales pet food in Oak Forest, IL.  And, I thought they only made food products such as chips, dips and Fritos!

and

Tyson Foods, Inc., is a poultry meat and bone processor for the pet food industry, and has four manufacturing plants for this.

It seems I never gave any thought to what they did with the poultry carcasses, but it makes sense and it is lucrative to align with the feed and grain industries.

And, a search for "feed supplements", produced this result:

Clearly, the search groupings, just as the imagination, are endless and the information from this Blue Book is worth checking out.  Definitely bookmark this site, as it is a great preliminary research tool and can be the beginning of the informational path for someone.

So many questions need to be answered today ...  Who are the poultry/pig feed suppliers?  How does one obtain a list of importers/exporters of grains, supplements and/or proteins?  Who do the pet food manufacturers contract with in the US to get their grains, supplements and/or proteins?  Or, do they contract with Canada for these products? The questions go on and on (at least in my mind), that it's boggling!

Who knows what will come of your searches, but information never hurt anyone, it only serves to prepare.

Exactly!

Here's another example ...

Go to the feed supplement search (above) and look at Shur-Grain.  I am sure you will be surprised to see who the parent company of this subsidiary is.

Thank you!!  I have been looking for some kind of reference and this is it!  I browsed through it but everyone should have a look. ... Wealth of info and how few exactly control all our food supplies, not just our pets.   Scary but enlightening.   I was feeding Merrick / Calif Nat. but may change to just home cooking for my westie.  He came through clear on the testing but he is just not a typical terrier lately.

Best of luck to us all.  Mia

You are more than welcome, Mia, and thank you for posting your thoughts on MacRAE's, in addition to your search results!  As well, I hope your little Westie perk's up!

I agree that MacRAE's most certainly offers a "wealth of info" to the public!  Given half a chance, individuals who visit the site will see the information they receive will assist them in ways that can be limitless.  All one has to do is use key words for a search, or type in corporate name, and the road to their research begins.

When I was searching "feed supplements", I happened to visit one company's website (can't seem to think of the name - it began with an "A") and this company actually listed the companies it contracted with.  Imagine that!  So, if one is looking for affiliate companies while at MacRAE's, do not rule out stumbling upon them at a particular company website.  Granted, all companies do not list affiliates, this one highlight happens to be the luck of the draw!

Again, I urge everyone to check out this website, as this is a great consumer tool.
