I am so grateful for everyone's support. On October 24, we lost Pretty Girl. We found later that evening, that it was a rare night when the aurora borealis was visible much farther south than usual. It didn't quite reach us, but I still wanted to believe in a connection to this great kitty stepping back into the woods she came out of.

We had some bonus time; the prednisolone reduced the size of the tumor on her face and the tail tumors shrunk too - the fur started growing back in over them. She had a good appetite and was especially fond of Natural Balance Turkey and Giblets. So I would stock up, thinking if I had plenty at hand, PG would be there to eat it. We spent time with her on laps, and sitting beside us. She loved to reach out towards us with her paw. She was so smart! She'd place a paw against my denim clothes and curl her claws around and grip the cloth. But when she placed her paw on my hand, she knew to let the claw flex stop short of sticking me.

The vets had said that when the cancer came back it might be very aggressive, and it was. So much heartache, but sadder for this cat to have been left to fend for herself, with no home. Part of the agreement with the animal you take in as your companion, is knowing that when their span of health and life is over, you'll have to care for them and ease them on to the Rainbow Bridge.

I just hate to post this...

I am sure that aurora on that night had special significance for your very special girl. You've had so much to deal with, but you did what you needed to do - with love - for her. Your home must be very empty right now, but hopefully will soon be full of memories and warmth, not sadness.

Keeping you in my prayers while you grieve her passing. She was a very lucky girl to have chosen you to love.

So sorry catwoods. Cry

Goodbye Pretty Girl, I hope you were nice to the goddess of the dawn, Aurora and the god of the wind, Boreas, as they guided you to the Bridge. You must have been a very special kitty to get such an escort.

Many hugs to you, catwoods

I am so, so sorry to hear that Pretty Girl had to leave you at last. Cry Cry

May you be blessed with fond memories of her, and also comfort, whenever you see something remarkable in the sky.  She was truly a special spirit who graced your life.

We saw spectacular aurora displays here (northern USA) that night.  I feel privileged to have witnessed her passing in glory.

Awww Catwoods. Makes me sad to know that you had to part ways but I know the feeling you get when you see the northern lights at the time of one's passing. You just know it's them telling you it's OK and that it's beautiful where they are.

I'm sorry to hear that Pretty Girl finally lost her battle with cancer.  It sounds like you did have some good time left with her, but of course, it's just never enough.  Rest in peace, little kitty girl.
