You have been in my thoughts lately, mylo. So sad that your poor dog was poisoned that way. I hope that your emptiness will ease a bit soon. Far too many of us have experienced what you are feeling. {{hugs}} to you.

{{{Hugs}}} Mylo... maybe you should have a chat with that neighbor? He shoudn't leave poison out for any creature. If you want to talk about it, your grief, your memories of your doggie, we're here to listen.

I am very sorry Mylo, I too think of you and your sweet Mylo often. I am sorry to hear about the bowl and the poison.. that is a hard thing to face!!! That void you speak of, in my opinion, it never really goes away sweetie... see they filled such a huge part of our lives and when they leave us to go to a better place we are left with this void... this emptiness in our lives that can only be filled by them. The void becomes less jagged once you find that peace that they are in a better place and that they just get to go there before we do... but we eventually will go there too... and be with them once again. Its the love that we share that will keep us together... that golden string. Surround yourself with pictures and wonderful memories of little Mylo... she loved you and you loved her, that no one will ever be able to take away.

So sorry that Mylo may have eaten this poison. What kind of person leaves any type of stuff like that out where a neighborhood pet could come in contact with? And to leave poison out in the first place - what did the chipmunks do to this person?

I am sorry to think your neighbor left out poisen for chipmunks? I don't understand people and their need to rid the world of creatures. You really should have a chat with your neighbor to make sure no one else suffers a loss. Most of us here have lost a loved furkid and it really hurts. Poor Mylo

mylo- I am so sorry your dog may have been poisoned ! I hope you told your neighbor there are better ways to discourage rodents & that he is endangering all the pets, children & wildlife by doing this. I would warn all the other neighbors also, hopefully it could prevent another tragedy. I wish I had an answer that would help you with the empty feeling, unfortunately only time will. Some of the members here & their friends & family have worked with rescues & found that being around others in need helped. I hope you will have only happy memeories of Mylo soon.

but the poison was in their yard... there are a lot of chipmunks and they eat the neighbors garden up - but your right anything that poisonous neigbors should be notified, I have no real proof that my dog ate that poison though, and he is a very nice neighbor. But heck if a dog can get into that, then a kid can get into that much easier.
I just really miss the way my dog would cuddle with me in my bed... We would lock her in the kitchen at night, with the child proof doors, and everynite she would figure a different way out lol, to this day I cannot figure out how she would do it.. Either by force or a straight jump over it is what Im thinking. Then she would come to my room and straight for my bed. She loved to go to my bed and hang her head outside the window (with the screen)and just look out from the top floor -shed stay looking there for hours lol. Then she'd get up, and as I lay sleeping on my side, shed come and lay near my legs which are bent and curl into a ball right next to them.
Another thing I liked about her was how I could point to anything and I wouldnt say anything and she'd know exactly what I wanted her to do... Like I pointed to her water bowl - even if she was not thirsty she'd drink it if I pointed to it. Or if I pointed to the door, she knew it was time to go out. Even when I pointed to my cheek she'd land a kiss on it lol...
Another thing she did was you could stomp on the ground just randomly and then she'd stomp back with both her paws, and ofcourse I would stomp back and it would be on chasing each other through out the house lol.. Then I'd open my arms to hug her and she knew that okay I want to rest now lol.
I could leave plate full of food on the floor and she would sit near it but would not eat it unless I said it was okay. What else is funny is if she was eating meat or some other food, I could reach in and grab it back out of her mouth...lol

Memories such as these will make you smile in the future, even though they seem so hard to think about right now. May you soon find peace in your heart, Mylo.

I'm sooo sorry for the loss of your dog. (Your neighbor doesn't seem to think things thru very well). When I lived in New Hampshire, we had a lot of problems with chipmunks & squirrels in our garden too. I chopped up hot peppers (the HOTTER the better), added that to water and sprayed my veggies with it. The chipmunks & squirrels stayed away from the garden after that!! (Just remember to wash your veggies before you eat them!) Maybe your neighbor could try that.

There are also some commercial repellants for squirrels, chipmunks, etc. that contain hot pepper extract as well as some other safe ingredients that just repel and don't kill. They can be sprayed on any kind of plants as well as outdoor furniture, fences, flower pots, etc. to keep the animals from bothering those things.

I just watched Marley and Me today....Great story I really liked it... reminded me of all the good times I had with my dog.... I really like this quote: " ..a dog has no use for fancy cars, or big homes or designer clothes.... A water log stick would do just fine... A dog didnt care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb.... Give him your heart and he'll give you his..... How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?" really liked that quote guys.....
