hello everyone,

I was at work today got a call from home that my Dog was very sick. I went to my boss and said I have to take off early, he goes why? my dog needs to be taken to the hospital/vet. He turns around yelling at me saying that This is F*****G fathers day sale, there are many customers over there and that I have to stay (he swore some more at me) . Then turns around yells at me some more saying that go do w/e the hell you have to do, then turns around and says NO you have to say. I just couldnt believe it, he was yelling at me infront of customers about this + infront of my fellow associates. I told him there was no one to drive my dog, he replied that he did not care. So I left anyways - I had to this was my best friend. But I took my 30 minute break. I get home my dog can barely walk. She gets up, falls to the ground trying to get to me and does this a few more times. Poor thing is wagging her tail for me still. Its 4 pm, I was out in another 2 hrs fom work.I petted her a few times, and then I made the worst judgement call, because I rushed back to work. Within the next 5-10 minutes she was gone..... She was having an issue goin to the bathroom late morning but I didnt think much of it as she has had this problem before. I was plannning to take her to our vet which was 15 minutes away right when I got home....

She was fine all this morning she ate all her food and water. I just dont know what to do guys, he put so much pressure on me at work to get back there. There was plenty of coverage and we were busy. It makes hugely mad and hugely sad at the same time. My Dog's name was mylo and she was a beagle at the age of 6. I feel like I let my dog down....

mylo,
I am so sorry for the loss of your dog.  Your story is very sad and the behaviour of your boss was totally uncaring.  I offer you my sincerest sympathy at this difficult time.  Rest in peace, dear Mylo.   Cry

I'm very sorry about the loss of your dog, Mylo. The behavior of your boss seems first and foremost, very unfeeling, and also, lacking in common courtesy.

I'm so sorry for the loss of dog. I think that your boss must be very hard to work for, and he certainly is very uncaring. So glad that you came to Itchmo. You will receive lots of support in you loss here. We all know what it is like to lose one of dear fur-kids. Here, pets sometimes are treated better than the humans in our world.

Just curious, what brand of food was your dog eating?

Hugs

Oh Mylo, I am so very sorry for the lost of your dog.  We are in such a bind nowadays trying to hold on to a job and your boss is beyond belief.  Under the circumstances you made the best call you could.  Don't beat yourself up -- you couldn't have known what would happen.  My deepest sympathies to you. mylo- I am so sorry for your loss.  You made a difficult decision and I understand your feelings, but without your job how would you have paid for Mylo's treatment? I'm sure Mylo knew how much you loved her.I will light a candle for Mylo and send you hugs. I would also be interested in what she was eating, since there are several problems with foods right now.

you guys have been great, Mylo from a puppy has been struggling with an AutoImmune disorder- she nearly died at the age of 2-3, luckily the steriods cured her for a while.

They even believed that she was allergic or her system was not use to the rabies vaccine.

During this time around age 3, she developed "hot spots" - from scratching too much till the point they became open wounds. (happened a few times)

She also developed atleast 5 episodes of urinary tract infections at ages 3,4,5, and 6. just recently she was diagnosed with this too about 2-3 weeks ago. She was on antibiotics until a few days ago. They did an ultrasound last year  and found nothing (no kidney stones)..

Then  her kidneys started to fail, dont know how maybe a poisonous mushroom, and she had to be rushed to the vet at age 4.

Also from age 3 to 6, she had quite a few yeast infections in her ears.

So I just cannot believe how fast this happened... I bought her organic food because she had allergies alot - she could never eat alpo or pedigree, had to be organic ( I think it was called natural something) Smiley. Even the collar had to be hypoallogenic! Smiley.

Thanks for all your support guys, its helped me quite a bit.

I'm so sorry to hear about your best friend, Mylo. I lost mine today, too. It's good to have support here because it's hard to find elsewhere. I'm glad you just left work and went home. I called in today and said I wasn't coming. They could take it off my cheque. I don't care.

Please know that Mylo knew how much you loved her and didn't wish this kind of ending for her.

Hugs for you and prayers for her.
