RIP Bones - my big, beautiful boy

« Reply #30 on: January 19, 2010, 06:57:32 AM »

It took about a month for mine to start finding their new roles after Bones died. They were so well behaved in that month -- it was eerie. After that time, Pip stopped chewing her fur and Mia started being a jerk again and I knew they were testing their new lives. I gave them extra attention and spent more time outdoors with them. Maybe you could take Tessa outside if she normally doesn't go out or spend some time with them outside, playing with a string or a ball. I know they appreciate it, but just like us, it takes time.

Red and Bones, my baby boys, you'll always be in my heart. Mom will see you later. Look after each other, ok?

petslave, I'm so sorry to hear about the sudden loss of Tony.  I'm sure being at home was a big comfort to him.  Peace to you and your kitties.

It's so difficult to lose a beloved pet so suddenly but I hope you can take comfort in knowing that he didn't suffer. Peace to you and your family.

Oh Petslave - I am so sorry for your loss.  It was so sudden!  How devastating.  My heart goes out to you.  Please do not blame yourself.  Many many people feed their pets home-made food including me and have had good results.  We cannot second-guess what could have caused the blood clot.  Some animals are susceptible to it just like some people (I know a lady who is like this and she needs to be careful about eating anything that has too much vitamin K - and that's usually in certain vegetables - and cats would not eat that much veggies to get too much vit K).  It would not be the taurine that could have caused the blood clot.

If you are worried about the other kitties, just add a little more salmon oil and vit E to their diet.  I read that salmon oil/fish oil behaves as a bit of a blood thinner, like aspirin.

Oh Petslave - I've been away, so have only just read this sad, sad news.  I'm crying for you as I type - my hugs go out to you - and to Tessa and Rudi who miss Tony so badly too.

May you always feel his loving furry presence - I'm sure he will always let you know he is there for you when you need.

Tony - I will light you a candle to guide you as you play with Mia.

Tessa seems a little better tonight.  She's still doing some running around looking, but she desn't seem so frantic.  Rudi had a good hard play tonight, racing  ack and forth  between rooms.  I kept watching to see if he was breathing hard or acting strange from all the activity.

I think I'm going to tend toward being a little hypervigilant for awhile.

Sounds like Tessa and Rudi are slowly starting to cope with missing Tony. Nothing wrong w/being a lil extra caring, they will love you for it.
