Arlo, you are the sweetest person.
I lit one yesterday, but i don't see it today. does that mean I need to light another? Or where did it go?

The candles only last for 48 hours.

To me the candles symbolize the Jewish custom of sitting Shiva.  For a week after the funeral a candle is burned, and people pay condolence calls.  The mirrors are covered so the spirit doesn't get trapped, and a bucket of water sits by the front door so we can wash our hands of grief.

We're not Carol's family, but in a way we are.  In my mind we're sitting Shiva with her.

That is a wonderful custom, Arlo.
Yes, we are all part of Carol's extended family.

Thank you, Arlo, that's a lovely tradition. I feel that many of us are family, family by choice.

This is the most wonderful tradition. I just looked at all the candles, and the ones to Kismet make Me cry, to know how much My friends really do care. thank you, it means so very much.
