Trudy, just sending my prayers of peace and comfort knowing you did all you could for Trouble.
Trouble knows that, too, Trudy.

I really don't what to say. and I can't express what it means to have you all here for Me. The thought that just came through My mind is -We are one of heart.
I was on for a minute last night, but just couldn't stay or write. I'm having a hard time right now. But I do want to let you know what happened.
Dr. Hodgkins got in touch with My vet, Dr. Powell. She had already emailed Me that She didn't think it was hemobartonella. My vet had sent Her the blood work results.
They talked for a while. And Dr. Hodgkins had My vet do another blood panel.
It turns out, it is either FIP or cancer.
I knew when i looked at Him yesterday, He was deterating  very fast.He was all yellow, had His little head laying down, and just looked horrible. I knew then He was in a lot of pain, and it should have been done earlier. Now, i have to live with that. But of course, i had no idea.
I held His head and talked to Him and told him how much i loved him, and He kind of wimpered, and then was gone. I stayd while She took fluid from His belly, then i left while she did the autopsy.
I'll let you know the results. i'm on my way to pick up his body now.
He was so young, He was born here, and it hurts so much. He is one of the ones that never did anything wrong. Just liked to sleep on the TV.
I love and miss Him so much already.
And Lots of love to you all, too. If not for you, I don't think I could keep going on.

Trudy- Please don't blame yourself for waiting. You were trying to save him. As soon as you knew he couldn't be helped, you acted to end his pain. I'm sure he knows that and that both decisions were made out of your love for him. Try to have a quiet day and let yourself grieve without blame. We are here whenever you need to talk.

Oh, Trudy, I'm so sorry you lost Trouble.  You tried so hard and gave him the best chance you could given what you knew, but it just wasn't to be.  He's at peace now, free of illness and pain.  Prayers to you and your little angel boy.

Aaww Trudy, big hugs for you!  Please keep us posted on how you are doing, Im sure getting the results of the necropsy will be hard also so we are here when you need to talk.  Its easy to second-guess everything once things are done but at the time you just need to remember you were doing what you could to help.  Lack of diagnosis makes it harder to decide how to proceed so you just did what you could based on the info you had at hand at the time.  Dont go down that road of beating yourself up, instead please just remember all the love and care you gave Trouble.   Kiss

I got the lab reports of the necropsy that was done on Trouble back today.
He had FIP. So, it's a very good thing I let Him go when i did. If I had known, it would have been a lot earlier.
The only weired thing is, He was born here and has never been outside or with any strange cats. You just never know.
Poor little guy, at least I know now.

Trudy- I am sorry it turned out to be FIP. But at least you know there was nothing else you could do for him. Do you need to get the others tested ?

Well, tests don't really prove anything. I don't know where it came from, but probably someone is a carrier. If a positive test comes back on a cat, without an autopsy, it means the cat has a carona virus. There are many carona viruses out there. Doesn't mean for sure that the cat has FIP.
When I was a breeder I found out almost all breeders have had FIP in their catteries. And almost all the cats carry a carona virus. Some cats come down with FIP, some don't. Some will be carriers forever. But some will {shed} the virus and then another cat could get it.
So, I'm sure it has to be here. But it's a hit and miss situation. Usually a cat that gets sick or real stressed out might be more suseptable. Trouble was such a laid back, easy going cat, so I never thought FIP.
Thanks, Trudy

Have you had autopsies done for the other kitties that you have lost since you began posting at Itchmo to rule out FIP?

Trudy,

{{{HUGS}}}

I'm so sorry.  But take comfort in knowing you did everything you possibly could do to help Trouble.
