It is with such sadness I had to let Otto go this afternoon.  He was as weak, if not more so, as Monday - such an effort to stand and he took one or two steps before lying down and flopping over on his side, I could see he really had had enough.

I was able to spend half an hour in the vet's room with him, cuddling and stroking him on my lap.  We sat in the sunshine by the window and I told him how much I loved him and how I would miss him around the house and the garden he'd never know.  Remembered the old place, how he loved to bimbe down the garden and over the back and hang out in the woodpile there.

The vet was lovely, and gave me as much time as I wanted - he even stroked him when we were wrapping his blankie round him after he'd gone....  Cry Cry Cry

Darling boy - run free from the poor weak body which could no longer sustain you - I will remember you always

Here are a couple of my favourite pics I found of this sweet boy

JoMax, I am so, so sorry about Otto.  Cry Cry Cry  Yes, it does sound as though it was time. I am lighting a candle in Otto's memory, and sending thoughts of comfort to you.

(I am at work now, but for some reason I just felt the need to check in here at this time...)

{{{hugs}}} aplenty.

JoMax, I'm so sorry it was time for Otto to make his journey to Rainbow Bridge.  Way too soon.  RIP Otto.  When I look at his photo, the word "noble" comes to mind.  He looks so in charge of his domain.  That is how he strikes me in his picture.  It sounds like you gave him a wonderful life.  {{{hugs}}}

Enjoy your eternal garden, sweet boy, Otto.  And may your spirit send healing to those you had to leave for now.

I'm so sorry, JoMax.

Wishing you candle glow to light your way to the Rainbow Bridge, Angel Otto. What a handsome boy he was.

Jomax,  I am so extremely sorry that the hospital stay did not help Otto.
You have my sincere sympathy that it was necessary to release him from his tired, sick body.  It was an act of loving kindness.    Rip dear sweet Otto, and whisper sweetly into your catmom's ears in the still of the night,  to soothe and help her as she grieves over losing you.

Otto was an extremely handsome boy, noble looking as someone else said.
He is safe from harm and suffering now across the Rainbow Bridge. And I am sure he will be very close to you, and watching over you with great love.
Bless you sweet Otto, and Bless you Jomax and may your grief ease soon.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts - feeling very sad today as I'm realising how much I miss his presence - my household has a big Otto shaped hole in it now. He was the staid, uncomplaining one, like the solid base of my cat camily - and the only one who liked being picked up and cuddled.  It feels all wrong without him here....

Remembering how when it was time to come in at night, I'd go down the garden, into the alleyway and call him, and eventually he'd appear and over the last six months or so, got in the habit of letting me pick him up and carry him back to the house for supper with lots of cuddles and strokes on the way.

Darling Otto, I wish we had had the chance to reestablish that habit here..... Cry Cry
