I was very touched by your video tribute to Thunder, and your story about her name. Thank you for sharing her with us

Oh, Ned. That was just an awesome story. Like Cato's stories of Kaffe, I would love to hear more about Thunder's adventures.
The first time I was out living on my own, I found my very first cat, Moo. She was my only kitty girl for 12 years and then she left me thanks to cancer. I know that when I lost Moo, I wouldn't have cared if the house burnt down. There was nothing in it that really mattered when my late dh and I weren't home.
When he and I were younger and had just gotten married, we were having the talk about kids. He said, "You can't just have one or two. If you have one, and they leave, then you have none. If you have two and they fight, there is no tie-breaker. If you have three and one leaves, then the other two have each other. You always need three. Three is a good number."
We never had kids, but we also never had less than three cats in the house. The wisdom of a 20 year old. It still holds true for me today and has helped save me in the loss of both Red and Bones.
I hope you can find your way.

Ned, I love your story about how Thunder and you met and how she got her name. I would love to hear more Thunder stories, I loved reading Kaffe's stories and looked forward to each new installment. I understand how strange your life feels after you lost an ill pet. When Brown passed, I was at odds as to what to do with this new time, I literally was medicating or checking on him every two hours around the clock. I was exhausted, emotionally and physically, unfortunately Snowy was diagnosed with cancer exactly two weeks later and the whirlwind began again. Often I would compare my life with a roller coaster ride. I just didn't what kind of day either of them would have and it was so emotionally draining through those ups and downs and the millions of tears that were shed on the bad days to be followed by rallies. I didn't know how to react once it was over with which only depressed me more, because I found myself missing them even more. You are not alone. You have been on my mind and in my prayers. {{{{hugs}}}}.

Thunder is back home with me. I picked up her ashes today. My lap was her favorite spot! I gave a nice framed photo of Thunder to my vet. I think it's a great picture for a vet's office! (And you can see I'm practicing embossed text in photoshop! I'm trying to keep myself busy.)

Ned, that's a really nice urn you picked and a great photo that, I'm sure, your vet will love. It always seems so strange to me when I talk to Bones' and Red's urns -- as if they were in there. I talk to their pictures all the time. At work, I got myself an electronic picture frame so I can have as many pictures of them as I want, all day long. I talk to those too. Quietly.
If you ever want to talk shop or swap trade secrets, just to keep you busy, I'm a graphic designer as well. PM me anytime.

I was always glad to bring them home. Somehow it brought me closure and peace. I think her resting box is lovely, Ned. Keeping busy is a good thing, too.
Love the photo - and I'm sure the vet did, too. Imagine it's hard for them, too, after caring for an animal for so long.

Beautiful urn, ned. I'm so glad Thunder is back home with you where she belongs. I think it's a wonderful picture for a vets office. I think it's says exactly what all the animals think about having to go see the vet.

Wishing you peace, Ned. I agree that this often brings a sense of closure. And how nice of you to give a picture to her vet. I agree that it is very appropriate for a vet office, and will, I am sure, bring many smiles.
Thunder is a kitty who will live on in many hearts.
