LAST NIGHT

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today; your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said, "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...then come home to be with me.

Another song for Gizmo and Peg:

These are the words to the song "Whisper of Angels" by Amici Forever, a pop/rock/classical crossover group.  I listened to this today.  The main melody of the song is from Faure's famous Requiem, and it really seemed appropriate to me, when I heard it.  Those we love are never gone, but are with us for eternity.

Whisper of Angels

I was yours before the first morn broke
Before the sun that woke the earth
And I was yours before rain kissed the ground
Before the first dawn's sound was heard

I'll be the whisper of angels
And I'll be the frost on your glass
And I'll be the shadows at twilight
I'll be your first your last

I'm the rush-the fire in your veins
Across the desert plains I ride
I'm the ache the sound that midnight makes
A streak of star across the sky

I'll be the whisper of angels
And I'll be the frost on your glass
And I'll be the shadows at twilight
I'll be your first your last

I'm so sorry to read Peg's sad news about Gizmo. I've tried several times, cried every time and not posted. Sigh.

I'm just so sorry and I personally know the pain is deep and the loss profoundly heartbreaking....

Peg, you're in my thoughts & prayers

Hugs,
Ann

Thank you Offy and please don't be sad.

I am so filled with wonderful Gizmo memories that were made between the 2 of us and DH.  There were so many laughs with Giz and Rikers, Rufus, Gadget, Frosty and Edgar Winter.  For every new kitty that was added to the pack, Gizmo welcomed them and protected them until they settled in.

I have read through all the poems, and the lyrics and they have given me tears, but tremendous comfort as well.

Kaffe's roast loin of pork is about to be prepared for all, in honor of Giz.  It was his favorite.

Peg - we are all waiting for the "Gizmo Tails" thread  Grin

I so hope the other kitties are OK and not mourning inordinately?  Its hard for them to understand sometimes when they suddenly stop seeing a "Great Protector."  I'm praying for them too.

Hugs, sweet Peg - we'll see our beloved furbabies again when our own journey is done.

I'll go tomorrow and bring him home.

I am still so very sad and things here at home are so very different.....for all of us. Cry   Cry
