This definetly disagrees with my understanding that Organic Beef can be fed nonorganic Hay when organic is not reasonably available. Maybe that has changed or maybe it is an oversight?

I admittedly could not tell you for certain,

I wonder if it disagrees, or if the advertising just leaves the details out?  I haven't found the USDA regulations on certified organic beef.  What you say seems reasonable since if there is a short term unavailability of organic feed, you wouldn't want a farmer to be tempted to let his/her animals do without for a few days to retain organic certification.

You might be interested in this alternative certification.

You might meet these standards, too.  It's the kind of thing lots of people care about and the certification make it an easy way to communicate.
