Hi just wanted to check in and let you know Rusty seems to be really taking to & loving home cooked (still using some canned )but plan to use just home cooked & Nu cat vitamins only as soon as vitamins are in. I am giving him chicken & hearts & Gizzards (cooking another batch now) until I have all supplies together then will try sample Alterin vitamins and see how that goes. Is there anything else i need to add to this? want it to be healthy for him and to make sure i am doing it right so i always run things by you all first. Wink  TY Grin akm1 Smiley

For now as long as you are using some canned complete diet, switching proteins, adding organs [include some liver occasionally] & adding small amounts of different grains or potatos & ,veggies & fruit should do it. See this thread for help http://itchmoforums.com/making-your-own-pet-food-and-home-remedies/using-the-alnutrin-calculator-to-make-home-cooked-cat-food-t13337.0.html

Thank you lesliek I'll have to go get some Liver and more canned just wondering how much canned do i need to give him with the other foods? Haven't been giving him much trying to wean him off of canned but I'll have to be more patient if he's not getting enough then i need to adjust the canned. Thanks Wink  amkm1  Smiley

As long as you are rotating ingredients, but adding no vitamins or Alnutrin I would try for 1/2 canned as long as its a complete food.

Great that he's eating his home food!  All of the Alnutrin recipes have liver and some kind of veggie in them.  Fewer have hearts & gizzards, but those are fine if you make sure to include them when balancing the recipe with the calculator.
