I, too, would like to be cooking for my kids, but they don't agree. We all do the best we can and that's it. I've worked through my guilt about what they eat because I've tried and tried and that's all they will eat. Can't even get the 3 babies (okay, they're 5 now) to eat wet (and I'm not doing the ff thing). Jess is the only one who will eat the Wellness wet and he's not as enthusiastic as he was. Just do what you can and know that's enough.

Don, that's good advice. I've also found if you speak to the store manager they will give you a price discount if you ask for a "bulk package". Chicken tenders were $2.99/lb. last week, when I asked for 10 lbs in one package, they charged me $1.77/lb.

RE: eggs
The veterinary nutrtionist told me my dog could eat one or two hard boiled eggs a day. Some dogs get runny stool on more than one egg/day; so be careful. Also if a dog has kidney issues, you need to be careful of feeding the yellow part of the egg - high in phosphorous. Many people with kidney impaired dogs who home feed - feed only egg whites. I've been told by my vet that the bioavailability of protein is the highest in eggs and easiest to digest.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling guilty.
I feed chicken once in a while, but with all the pets We have, that's about all i can do. i wish i could cook for them all the time.

I too experience the guilt of not feeding my guys homecooked food.  I tried really hard to get them to eat my cooking, spent a lot of money on supplements and they just weren't having it.  My cooking was not well received, to say the least!  I tried chicken, turkey, tuna , salmon and it was all a no go.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have been a vegetarian for the past 20 years and I never really learned how to cook meat!  The cats could sense that I didn't know what the heck I was doing!
