Good to see you back, Cato.  Are you still working on your book?  I hope sometime when you have more time that you will be able to tell more of Kaffe's story.  I really enjoyed your writing about him.

LOL... Yes - but I've developed carpal tunnel with arthritis in my right hand which makes typing slow and kinda painful... the bad back is also keeping me from sitting too long in front of the computer... real bummer... but, must not complain... also I have a kind of "Day Job" on top of that... but I reallu missed you guys.

So glad you are back, Phoebe.  Grin

I use arnica gel all the time.  You have to reapply it a lot, but I believe it helps.

Seven years ago, I had a patient; male, 6'5" and 285 pounds who had surgery and insisted he could walk into the recovery room unaided.  Absolutely, said I, of course I was standing right behind him with every step he took.  Well one not so good step and he was coming backwards.  I caught him and proceeded to escort him the rest of the way to the recovery room.  I thought all was well until I went to grab the x-ray camera and couldn't move.  Long story short last 2 discs in my spine were herniated.  Physical therapy guys recommended a balance ball for core strengthening.  It was a miracle.  Still use it, love it and have replaced it a few times over the years.  Major difficulty for me was sitting and doing insurance forms and charting for the patients.

This was, is and forever will be a godsend for me.  I have one at home and one at my desk at work.  I just got one for my boss for his office chair.  He has never felt so good......makes him much less crabby too.... Grin  Wink

Cato allow me to present...............

And it's on sale too...........I may just get another one.

Arnica gel is a blessing for me as well.  You do have to reapply as Spartycats said but the stuff is good.  Physical therapy guys also recommend one of those squeeze balls for your hand.  Strengthens the wrists as well helping tremendously with carpal tunnel issues.

wow.... thank you, Peg!  That sure looks comfy!  I have to see the dimensions if I could fit it in my tiny cublicle of an office!  Yes - I have Arnica gel and it does help a lot.  Really. I often feel my age these days... I'm also caring for my mom-in-law which burns me out... that's why I could not log into Itchmo as often as I would like.

Cato- Remember to take care of yourself too ! Its easy to get overwhelmed with being a caretaker, do something relaxing every few days.

I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough time with the bod. Many people around here swear by SierraSil

http://www.sierrasil.com/

Maybe give that a look, too. I hope you can find something that'll help.

Good to have you back and I hope Cato is doing well.

For several years, I had one of those swedish kneeling chairs because I couldn't sit down in a computer chair without back pain.  It really helped, but my knees had to get used to being used that way.
