I just heard from My cat list that Wal Mart is selling live animals on their "classified" site. Over the internet. I didn't even know they had one. But the people on the cat lists are writing to them and telling them to take live animals off. This does promote puppy mills, and cat mills. I think i just pulled up Walmart classifieds and got it.

Why do cats always jump on your lap with their claws out?  Especially when you are wearing shorts?

What caused Ebay to no longer allow the sale of pets?

I know that people had a fit and Ebay doesn't sell live animals anymore.
With Wal Mart, the rescues are alright, but not the pure breeds, because that gives people a good excuse to keep breeding, like a puppy mill.

Actually (being a former EBayer) - they had problems with the health of animals - and the safe transport of pets on airplanes.  Many problems.  And the obvious of course - you bid for a breed that is not a breed.  Its hard enough to transport live plants.

And since EBay is supposedly open to the world wide marketpplace - you would get bidders from questionable sources - and you really can't fit the regs to transport live animals out of the country.

Thanks for letting us know about this.  I looked at the classifieds and I don't like much of what is there.  I don't think Walmart is equipped to screen the ads as far as what is responsible and what is not.

I wrote them.  This is the contact page.  The first email "Wal-Mart Customer Service & Feedback"  will get the form you want and you can select the corporate office as the destination,  rather than your local store.  There is also a phone number further down the page, "Wal-Mart Ethics" if someone prefers to call.
