I am really horrified.  People need to start writing their representatives to change this.   Angry

15 states already ban this practice.

This is a surprise to me. I had no idea animals from shelters were sent to research facilities or that some states require it!
The comments made by some of the readers of this article were appalling to me..."if the animal is going to be euthanized anyway, why not let their death be of some benefit?" Preferring that an animal be made to suffer is beyond my comprehension.

Yes, the comments were appalling to me, as well.

When I first moved to Washington, a local group was fighting to get this practice changed.  Thank goodness it passed, but I read way too much in-depth reporting about it and was horrified to find out this was going on.

I 2nd that statement - "Preferring that an animal be made to suffer"

Who died and made these people the say soers of where animals must go? That equates to torture chambers - too horrifying to think about. These people must be sadistic in nature and derive some sort of sick feelings while torturing these innocent animals that did nothing to nobody.
