Isn't that forum sponsored by one of the big pet food companies?  I don't mean advertising, I mean actually run by.  If so, that would explain their attitude, which, by the way, makes me either want to jump up and down and scream (we also need an emoticon for that), or vomit  Lips sealed

dunno, but if it is - Nutro maybe? Cheesy

If you look at their 'Rainbow Bridge' forum there is a lot of pets that they claim have had FIP. Maybe they are calling an illness caused by the food as a mis RX for FIP.

Sorry, Just Me, I didn't mean this post to be taken that way.

i got one of the PM's also. basically telling us not to bash Nutro. funny thing is, i don't recall mentioning Nutro once! lol!~ everything i said including my opinion of what the OP should feed was generaly, non-specific, suggestions and my opinion! and of  course a more current link to the refusal report  Grin i wonder why it's ok to say Nutro is a good UTI food but not that it might not be . . . imo, no kibble is a good UTI food  Tongue also, giving a heads up on GMO's should be allowed . . . .

There is nothing amusing about FIP and Rainbow Bridge.  FIP was in the differential diagnoses for one of my cats recently who has been sick.

I need to be away from here awhile.  Later.

Eventually they will understand,
Replied the glorious cat
For I will whisper into their hearts
That I am always with them
I just am....forever and ever and ever.

straybaby,
I must have gotten the same pm from the catsite as you did telling me not to 'bash' Nutro. I see a banning coming my way.

Is that catsite forum for real?  Some of the posts sound like pet food industry hype.

Here is the link to who started the cat site forum.

1) When was The Cat Site started? It seems to be the most popular of all the cat forums I've found so far - why is this?
This last October, the site celebrated its 7th anniversary. The Site owner, Anne, started the forum to share information about cats and has been doing a great job.

Question is, does Anne work for someone else?  Do some of the posters work for someone else?

I post on The Cat Site forums and, for the most part, it's very informative. There are certainly people there who are much more lax in what they feed, as Nutro is quite popular, but on the other hand, I haven't seen a single complaint from any of the Nutro feeders.

As a regular there, I've never gotten the impression that there was any agenda, but I do somewhat frown upon "Sharky" giving so much "advice" on what to feed. I do know she's a vet tech that flat out says that most vets know nothing of nutrition. I also know that Sharky feeds a whole array of different canned foods, so I highly doubt that she's working for some company.

Thanks EricV2, for giving us that balanced view of the site. I stumbled onto the site from a link that I had found at the pets ca site. At first I was a bit confused by all of their 'toys' that you can 'buy' and a bit angry that at the time you first sign up, you are only allowed storage of 5 pm's because that is when lots of members are sending pm's to you because you are new. But after I had 'earned' my upgrade to 10 then it was not so  inconvenient. Personally, I think they should start out with 10 and raise it to fifteen.

It sure is a fast-paced forum. But I'm still shaking my head at the deletion of the information that both myself and straybaby had posted to that topic. What we had written was not off-topic and we didn't 'high-jack' the thread as they had claimed. The OP had asked for advice on what to feed her UTI cat and that was what we were doing.

It makes one glad that we have Itchmo where opinions are not 'censored' and no one has to 'earn privileges' !

Well glad those people do not post over here as us Pet Food Snobs would have them for dinner! Sheesh just cause one or two people state that their sister, brother or friend fed this food and had no problems go ahead and use it? So does that mean the folks on that site follow the pied piper and go along?

So very glad we have people on here who take the time and effort to post important facts for all to read and make their own wise judgements on - not just go along to get along type of mentality. Bet we have saved more pets from harm than any  other site out there thanks to Itchmo!

I just posted a new thread over there and of course 'sharky' was the first to reply and said some of it was 'out-dated'.

Did I stir the pot again?? I'm just going to let it run its course, but if any one wants to add a little fuel - be my guest Cheesy
