Finally got it to work on a different computer, and what an excellent program it was.

I thought so too. I'm really surprised Itchmo didn't do anything to support the effort Karen put into making it and showing it this weekend. I sent Itchmo a tip about it several days ago, and I'd have to say I'm a bit disappointed they didn't do anything to let others know about it. I hope Karen is able to make it more widely available as it's a shame to see that much work go into something, with so little recognition.

Since I was not able to be online when the program was on, I really hope that there will be a transcript or a downloadable podcast available.

Don, that's the part that still has me muddled. Some pets immediately became sick, not just the old or already health impaired. Immediately ill.  Dead in a day or two.

Coupled with the toxicologist and other pathologists remarking about the massive necrosis leads me to believe there is another lethal ingredient not yet identified (or identified and denied).  The crystals blocked tubules and caused renal failure. I haven't found anything yet that says that also causes massive cell death.  It also doesn't explain the liver damage.

As far as acetaminophen, it was mentioned multiple times in the pfi magazine articles. That was a lot of attention and study for something that wasn't there, or called a "hoax" by a lab (one heavily in bed with the pfi).

Catbird,

The program is on a loop, so you can listen to it through late this evening. Just go to the site and the program loads automatically. Don't push any buttons.

Offy,

In acute overdose situations, acetaminophen typically targets the blood and liver. In chronic exposure situations, it targets the kidneys.

The only explanation for what we know is there was a sort of perfect storm effect. The food was being spiked with multiple sources of NPN. In addition to the two part toxin effect of combinations such as melamine and cyanuric acid, our pet's health was being impaired through slowly starving to death from food that didn't have food in it. You then have chronic exposure to sub lethal doses of substances such as acetaminophen, which is doing further damaged to systems already compromised through lack of nutrition, with occaisonal multiplying effects when it combines with NPN. The end result is our pet's systems had been so severely compromised through constant assaults on their bodies, that death only appeared sudden when the final killing stroke was delivered. One last good dose of bad food was all it took to push them over the edge to their deaths.

The last puzzle piece fell into place when I found out the last food Chuckles ate was produced 2 and 8 months prior to the first recall date. Symptoms of kidney failure don't appear until more than 75% of kidney capacity is lost. So, you have the perfect storm where pets were already on the razors edge through long term exposure to toxins and food with little nutritional value, but had no obvious symptoms until one last blow to their systems knocked out enough of what little remaining capacity they had to push them over the edge.

I sent a note to Karen about that earlier today and it's my understanding there will be an archived version available for download later on.

On another note, I recently uploaded a ton of stuff to my site about Menu's effort to see all nonrecall evidence destroyed here: http://www.petfoodrecallfacts.com/newpage.html

So far, my efforts to see some of that evidence preserved have failed. I spent most of this weekend and last week working on a motion to have the ruling reversed, which I hope to have ready to file tomorrow. The battle on this issue has been so fierce I can't imagine them going to the lengths they've gone to unless that's were the smoking guns are buried.

If I can get hold of enough of it to fill in the blanks on what was on store shelves for approximately the year prior to the recall, I think their house of cards is going to go up in flames. They know it. I know it. And no one if offering quarter. I'll post the text of the brief when I get it filed and from there I guess I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed I can get the thing resolved in my favor without having to go to the State Supreme Court, the US Supreme Court and everything inbetween. We'll see.

It would be really interesting to know why the courts are not ordering them to sort & clean this mess under supervision.Sounds like someone is getting paid off.Maybe the executives who delayed the recall in order to dump their stock could pay for the cleanup.Of course that scenario would require the assistance of gov't agencies,& having them actually do their jobs would obviously be expecting too much.Once again proof that our system doen't work for the average citizen, only for BB who can afford lobbyists & campaign donations.

Sounds like someone is getting paid off.

I guess that's one of those things I'm careful not to comment on publicly.

Officially I'm very puzzled by the decisions that have been entered and am sure it was the result of honest mistakes that will be corrected on appeal.

Lord, Don, that's the most important mission. Independent testing of the pre-recall pet food
would certainly prove a lot, wouldn't it? Anything one can do to help?

The Texas State Dept. of Chemists have offered to help.
