well at least Dr. K said that in regards to dying humans.  unlike those poor adoptable pets people turned over to PETA, after being told they would quickly find 'great homes for them'.  Dead & thrown in the dumpster that is.

Kevorkian makes a lot of people nervous, too, like anyone who can't get up and run away from him.

Hah!  Wonder what Dr. K is up to nowadays?  Haven't heard much about him--he is still alive isn't he?

I believe I heard not too long ago that he was recently released from jail.

I heard that Dr. K was released some time ago.  The people who asked for his assistance wanted death to end suffering.     I am sure if the animals had a choice, they would not choose death from PETA or by other means either, but rather to find a home where they could live out their days in peace.

Has anyone heard of this group?

http://www.americanhumane.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pa_shelter_services_bp
"Every year, at least 5.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters in the United States. Indeed, it has been noted that in many areas of the country, a majority of animals entering the shelter system “are euthanized rather than adopted or reclaimed by their owners.” This problem is not limited to a single area of the country or a single segment of our population -- animal care and control facilities from coast to coast are flooded with healthy animals looking for a good home. It has been this way for decades although over the past 20 years, we have seen a sharp reduction in the numbers of animals euthanized."

If they are effective maybe you can support them.  There are healthy animals puts to death every day in shelters all over the country, many in barbaric ways like decompression chambers, being shot, etc.

Maybe that American Humane effort is part of the solution?

Yes. They are an animal rights group also. They partner with Pedigree dog food.

Pedigree was involved in this recall:

I think that may have been mentioned here before.  It's getting stranger and stranger if an animal rights group is taking money from a big PFI company.  And then all politcal wrangling over donations....it gets to be a very tangled web!

Hope somebody comes up clean here.

I was reading in Redemption that not only do they still kill animals inhumanely at a lot of shelters, there is also a lot of substandard care, outright neglect & sometimes abuse while the animals are in their care.
