Since this topic is supposed to be for the postcard blitz, I started a new subject called "Media Blitz".  I thought that would be a good place for us to post contact information for the media so we can write them in an effort to get national media coverage.  I've already posted how to contact Oprah Winfry and Ellen DeGeneres, both animal lovers, pet owners, and have talk shows.  Check it out and contact them!!

I am going to get my postcards in just a few minutes.  You better believe my kitty Pepper counts, even though she is waiting for me at the rainbow bridge.

Of course Pepper counts and  we are glad to have her counted in the blitz.
That is why we have done this, please come back next week and help with Blitz part 2 !

I just wanted to thank everyone for doing this.  I just found out about it at 2a this morning.  I work graveyard.  I am doing my postcards now.  This is quite painful and I was just wondering if ehamilton would post the satire on the FDA here.  A laugh would be greaty appreciated right now.

Since this topic is supposed to be for the postcard blitz, I started a new subject called "Media Blitz".

BluesKat, since you probably weren't around during the initial brainstorming of these ideas and discussion - getting the media's attention was also among our goals.  We began at the Pet Connection, then moved here to have a forum to discuss ideas in one place, so I can see how newcomers missed the earlier comments at the Pet Connection and even earlier in this topic.

My concern, is if we begin splitting up with topics here & there, we'll lose focus.  Please know I'm not trying to put down your idea, but wouldn't it be better to keep things centralized?  We're scattered enough across varying sites as it is without starting new topics.  Just seeing people only now finding out about the post card blitz is proof enough.  We've had the information posted around at least 7 well-read sites still people don't know about this campaign.  I think E. Hamilton planned on changing the topic of this thread as we moved into Stage 2 with the stuffed animals.

Just my 2 cents worth while only trying to keep this movement strong and cohesive.

Time for bed.
I ned slep.......

Just a few hours to go on the East coast before the post offices close.  Send your postcards!

If you ate today, thank a farmer, hopefully a small, local farmer.

Remember the thousands & thousands of pets that died to give US a wake-up call about the safety of ALL food.

Some cities have post offices that close as late as 5:00 pm on Saturdays. My local post office doesn't close until 3:00.  If you miss the noon deadline and your post office has closed, check out www.usps.gov then click "Locate a Postal Office" to find one that has extended Saturday hours.

Howl 911 had requests to send out postcards for 28 sick and deceased pets. One guardian whose cat was severely sickened also requested that postcards be sent for each of the 16 Menu Foods test subjects (15 cats, 1 dog) that died during their palatability study.

All total, we mailed out 140 cards today (5 for each pet). I so hope this action helps get the attention this tragedy sorely needs, and begins a revolution of change.

Nikki & to everyone who took part, thank you from the depths of me toes.  Whether you've lost a pet, have a sick cat or dog or are just scared out of your mind trying to keep your living pets healthy & safe.......I truly appreciate your caring enough to help get our pet's voices heard.  As heartbreakingly sad these pet's lost lives are to read, getting the word spread ensures these fur kids did not die in vain.

Thanks to everyone for getting this done.
I am asking everybody to get a good nights sleep or a bubble bath or curl up in a fetal position on the couch and whimper softly for a few hours ( my personal fave)
whatever it takes to be good to yourself.

If you go to church tomorrow, please speak to at least one person on the topic.
If you would like to help people learn about the recalls and the food situation, I will be posting a tutorial this next week.
If I can do this, and I have, then you can.
Tomorrow or Monday we start on new things and you can count on this, I have not yet BEGUN to hammer on the bad guys! And I have ideas for help for the pet parents .
Rest up and get ready to saddle up.

Thank you, thank you to everyone who helped put this blitz together and to everyone who sent cards.  If you haven't gotten your cards out yet, there is still time.  While we hope the cards arrive "en masse", the reality is that it takes longer to get some cards to their destinations than others.  So don't give up just because you think you missed the deadline.  Get 'em to the post office box tonight or tomorrow, or first thing on Monday.  Then come back here and see what happens next!
