I do want to say- If it's an spca, they might not want a full grown cat. you can always give them your number and if they don't find Mom a home, you can go and get Her then. That way, you will know what happens with Her. Good Luck.

I woke up in the middle of the night thinking about you and this mama cat. Is it possible to put her in your garage until she has the babies? Last year I took in an intact male who had been dropped off at some point. I knew I couldn't bring him in the house with my other cats so left the car out and moved him in. The garage has a window so I moved stuff around so he could see outside and he seemed pretty comfortable until I could get him vetted and to the humane society. Around here, Animal Control euthanizes a lot. Best of luck with whatever you do for this precious mama cat and her babies. And, yes, sadly people do walk right by the adults to the nursery. I'm the first to admit that kittens are beautiful, entertaining, endearing, but they don't stay that way for long. I'd love having a houseful of kittens, but the adults do end up with the short end of the stick. Blessings catmom5

This morning I spoke with a neighbor friend of mine and one of her cats that she adopted from the Humane Society 8 years ago was pregnant at the time and scheduled to be euthanised. It seems that they normally do not like to tie up a cage for the length of time it takes to wean the kitties. I will still speak to the Humane Society worker once I can catch up with her to see if this is still their policy. Unfortunately I do not have a garage.

This is so sad. Around here, the public shelter (place I took Linley when we found him) has foster care homes where they place pregnant cats until the kittens are of an adoptable age. They feel that kittens should be born into families, not cages. Does your friend who works for the Humane Society know of any fosters through the organization, who would be available to take the cat?
The garage does seem to be a good thought as a temporary measure. Are there any no-kill rescue groups in your area?
This sounds like a variation on the theme of what we went through when we found Linley. It is such a dilemma! Good luck to you and this poor kitty.

Carbird, you are I are so much alike. I woke up, too. there has to be a good solution. Maybe you can just ship the cat to us or something like that? I feel so bad i'm not there.

Please let us know how things go. I really am worried about this mama and her babies. I guess that the only thing any of us can do is what we can do. I hope that the woman from the humane society can put you in touch with a foster, a rescue, someone who will give this little mama cat and her babies a chance.

I'm going to try to find the list of rescue people who help out pets go from one place to another. There are a bunch that do just domestic pets, and not purebreds,

Hi everyone. This morning animal control came and picked up pregnant kitty. I was assured by both the Humane Society worker and the Animal Control officer that she would be well taken care of and NOT euthenized. I am so relieved as I have been so worried about this little girl. I pray that she has healthy babies and that they along with their little Mama will all find good homes. Thank You again for all the ideas and for your concern! Laurie

I am so glad that the kitty is now in a safer place! Will they let you know how she is doing?

I am going to take the picture I took of her to the girl I know who works for the Humane Society at Petsmart. She will watch for her and keep me posted to how she is doing. Possibly after she has the babies she can bring her and the kitties to Petsmart so that I can see them. I am not doing so well right now as I am going to miss her.

Big {{{hugs}}} from me, too. I know what you mean about missing her. It's amazing how they work themselves into our hearts, isn't it? I am glad that your friend will try to keep you in touch with Mama and kittens.

Aaaawww Laurie, its OK to be sad, it shows you care. You did what needed to be done to help the poor kitty have a better life. You will feel better when you can get an update from your friend. Keep us posted, we're all here for you.
