Klondike, I understand.  I think I went off on another tangent about the PFC's and I lost what Leslie's meaning was, lol When will I quit doing that, *shakes finger at self*   Grin I do agree that Sandy from NV was very patient and didnt threaten or intimidate at all.  Thanks for getting me back on track.  Wink

How about if we list the co's that were decent to us here, but if there are unanswered complaints & questions that should be noted also. This way anyone using pf can check the brand boards, the year with no problems & how the co reacts to problems.
Don & Klondike - you are so right ! Freedom means for everyone or no one.

I like this one, too.

I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

WOW! Shocked
I had no idea that people were being harassed, etc., for posting their experiences! What a horrible situation!
While I think it is a great idea to take legal action, there are also other avenues to pursue. Have any of you ever visited http://consumerist.com/ ? They have gotten some tremendous, and quick, responses from companies when customer service has failed. And they even posted something recently about dog food with nylon threads coming out of the kibble.
If you are getting BS responses from a company, that site is definitely one to tip off. Companies watch it!

I spoke to Cathy Macivor yesterday and she said something which cheered me up. I don't think she will mind if I share. She told me all the pf co's hate Itchmo ! So take that as proof we are having an effect !     Smiley Cool Smiley Cool

The PF companies hate Itchmo just because we all have the shocking audacity to demand safe pet food and product accountability?

You are right, lesliek, that must mean that people here are having an effect!

That's not surprising.  A company can/will control the information they provide to consumers, however, they cannot control the information, concerns, research, findings and experiences we share with each other on this forum.

It is unfortunate, though, that we have people on Itchmo that are capable of greater research and discovery than the industry.

Let's hear it for all the teenagers out there with a chemistry set who seemingly can
develop in their spare time faster, cheaper, effective tests for the safety of food products,
especially those that can identify what's in food products that is potentially harmful to
consumers, people and companion animal. Like the one CPSC toy inspector, it looks like the
pet food companies are going to have to hire more than one food inspector per company who
conducts research for a longer period than AAFCO's six month feeding trials.

This made my day!  And Don, I hope they aren't disrupting the flow of info. - I do hope they know how serious we are about changing the system for our pets.

It's pretty hard to argue with bad consumer product experiences increasing in frequency every year
that are producing deadly health results, backed up with veterinary treatment, and because
of some on Itchmo and elsewhere truly independent product testing. Add to that the knowledge
of truly questionable ingredients, and even the pet food companies can't keep the lid on this
forever.

I think we've all seen posts that try to divert attention away from the food problems. Or question peoples test results. For the most part I think most people here see through them and aren't fooled. Maybe they should try hiring people with real nutritional knowledge and making a quality food. Then they could love us because we would be saying good things about them. However I still think its a good thing that they know we are keeping tabs on all of them. Certainly no gov't agencies are.

This made me smile too---we are not the quiet consumer any more---we don't take them "at their word" anymore---instead of us testing our food to make sure it is safe-they SHOULD be doing this but they aren't at least publically for us to see...and until they change their ways we can not let up on our sharing of information and asking the tough questions--my opinion is if a pet food company was truly producing a healthy safe product it should be easy to prove and would not mind us "investigating" them and would welcome us itchmoers! I think it makes sense to be suspicious of anything seen on a forum, until you get a feel for the posters sharing the information. Regardless of the forum.

I agree with caution but when you start seeing problems with any product all over the place , its time to not use it until you are sure. Whether its for 2 or 4 legged family members. And this is JMHO but co's who lie or threaten don't get my business. Just as I will complain about a problem & warn people of it, I also will write thank you notes & promote business after a good experience. I personally think its good that they know someone is researching & checking up. Hopefully it will help keep them honest.
