Carol,

My keyboard gets wet when I see that picture of poor Smudgie.  It really shows what can happen.

and it happens very fast as we know---that is why we can not allow such foot dragging to continue!  Whether it is the long term changing the current regulations or short term answers to current questions to pet food co's....this is just to important to keep silent about....

I went there, but don't have a clue what to click on next.  Tried several things, but nada.

Not a problem, though.  Bart Stupak's committee is having another FDA hearing on Wednesday, May 14th.  It begins at 10 AM Eastern time.  I don't know if C-SPAN will carry the broadcast.  If not, here's a link for those who have a media player:

See the Wednesday, May 14th entry, and then click on "Connect to the Video Webcast (128 kbps)"

I got a msg from Susan who got the video:

"The FDA's pet food safety meeting was supposed to begin at 8 AM this morning...didn't start until 8:40 and ended at 10:50 AM!  And also there was a 40 minute break during this!  So...the actual meeting only took 90 minutes!  Seventy Four Million U.S. households own pets...and it only took 90 minutes to discuss the safety of the food we give our four legged family members!"

This about says it all. I don't  have to ask for Amanda's gutt reaction on
whether the FDA was just going through the motions. Email comments from
the consumer were blocked by flim-flam on where and when to send them.
This way, with a 90 minute meeting, FDA can't be held accountable for much,
can it? Nothing was discussed. What total seeming tripe ... I'll bet not one
consumer input suggestion was discussed. The word travesty keeps popping
into my mind. Furkid deaths in the thousands, and a seeming travesty ...

Yup, the consumer's voice. You all know the frustration.
