The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City offers a variety of preventive and basic veterinary care services. No appointments are required; rather our veterinarians see patients on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not screen based on financial need.

Clinic hours to see the veterinarian*:

Monday 10am to 4pm
Tuesday 10am to 4pm
Wednesday 10am to 5pm
Thursday 10am to 4pm
Friday 1pm to 4pm
No clinic on Saturday (spay/neuter appts. only)
Closed on Sunday

*Our clinic sometimes experiences large volumes of clients. When this happens we must stop accepting clients for that day.

Clients are able to receive preventive health care for their pets including exams, vaccinations and tests for heartworm disease, feline leukemia and feline immunosuppressive virus. Basic care for things such as small wounds and flea allergies are also provided. We sell heartworm prevention medication for dogs and offer basic pet care products.

We are not a full-service clinic and do not provide services such as x-rays, teeth cleaning, extensive lab work, or surgeries other than spay/neutering. Call (913) 596-1000 for more information about our clinic.

The Humane Society offers spay/neuter surgeries Monday through Saturday, by appointment only. We do not screen clients based on financial need-- anyone may use our services.

If you are feeding stray or feral cats and would like to have them spayed or neutered and vaccinated, please give us a call at (913) 596-1000. We appreciate people who show compassion towards these cats and we try to make caring for them as affordable as possible.

The Pet Connection

We are currently raising funds in hopes of expanding the following programs:

Events and benefits
No cost and low cost spay and neuter
Medical cost of pets and special needs
Support to other rescues and individuals
Community Education
Feral cat colonies

Vet Clinic Hours:
7021 Johnson Drive (next door to Don Chilitos)
Walk-in vet services:Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 8am-12pm

Low cost surgeries:

Specialty surgeries for low income families, for the elderly and for the disabled are often not an option due to budget constraints. These families often need and rely on the pets in their care for comfort and companionship. Options must be presented. We assist these families by offering low cost services and also by helping them access funding that might be available to them. We only service low income families.

Low cost clinic:

The Pet Connection offers a low-cost spay/neuter, basic veterinary service and heartworm treatment center to the area. The spay/neuter and the basic veterinary services are available 4 days a week held on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Our services are available to low-income individuals and rescue groups or individuals. We also perform simple surgeries such as hernia repair and dewclaw removal.

TPC no longer offers spay/neuter services for rabbits.
We do, however, still offer rabbit exams. We still promote having rabbits fixed due to health and behavioral benefits and if you need a low-cost option, try one of the following locations:

No More Homeless Pets 816-333-7387
Low Cost Spay Neuter (Dr. Bob's) 816-525-5401
Spay Neuter Kansas City 816-353-0940

We are not sure if they spay/neuter rabbits but maybe they can refer you to someone who does.

Basic veterinary services available from 8 am to 12 pm, four days a week with no appointment necessary. Surgeries and heartworm treatments are scheduled in advance.

Basic veterinary services include:

Deworm & Deflea
Basic vaccines
Blood work
Heartworm and Ehrlichia testing -- Treatment for both rescue groups and qualifying low-income families. The cost will be between $80-$160, depending on the size of the dog, cost includes pain medication. Treatment is not available during walk-in clinics
FeLV & FIV testing
Feral Fix Clinic -- We began doing $5 feral cats. Call our spay/neuter coordinators at 913-671-PETS. Appointments are filling fast. If you would like to sponsor a $5 free roaming cat day, please contact Melody at The Pet Connection, Inc.
