Gypsy has gone on to be with her cat family at the rainbow bridge. We think it was bladder cancer that got her in the end. She had had a couple of urinalysis that got pulled for pathology reviews which came back with atypical epithelial cells (possibly cancer, but not definitive). Then last weekend, she developed edema in her hindquarters rather suddenly, and ultrasound on Tuesday showed very thick bladder walls. The vet suspected the blockage causing the edema in her hind legs was in the lymphatic system, which was going to be hard to treat given all her other issues. She received a shot of Lasix to try to get rid of some of the fluid, and we had one more night with her. She was her indomitable sweet self to the end.
I am blessed beyond measure to have had her in my life. Her spirit lives on in the imprint of the love and generosity of spirit that she gifted to us, and the warm people she led us to we would not have otherwise found.
