With heaviness of spirit and a breaking heart, I bid this grand 'ol girl a "goodnight" - for now... this sad sad day, June 25, 2009...  Thunder, I hope to meet you in person one day.  I pray Kaffe and Pepe will be among the first to greet you a joyous "meow" and introduce you to all the interesting things to play with in yonder endless fields of green green grass and blue blue skies.  We shall all miss you, sweetheart... you have been a well-loved furry face among us in Itchmo.

My heart is grieves with yours, NedF.  But I thank you for sharing Thunder with all of us here.  We shall never forget her.

Ned,
Thunder was such a special little kitty, and the love you shared with her was inspirational.  Please know that you could not have done more than you did to make her life as happy as possible for as long as possible.  My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult times.  Rest in peace, dear Angel Thunder.   :'(

Dear Thunder and her devoted person Ned have given us much joy and many lessons in sharing their lives with us.  Their love for each other transcended the difficulties of the bad days.  And I learned to do water syringing by watching that great video of them (although I'll probably never have a cat that is as tolerant as Thunder of that!).

I hope I'm at one tenth as dignified and elegant, and demanding, as our Grande Dame Thunder if I make it to her age in cat years.  We are all honored to have gotten to know you, Miss Angel Thunder and Ned.  May memories of the good times soon move in to lighten the sadness and grief, Ned.

Ned,

I remember seeing you post the thread... "I Can't Cope"...and I know the helplessness of those words...But Ned...you did cope and Thunder was so very lucky to have you..There is a special type of sadness when we know the battle being fought can have only one ending...but how we choose to "fight" that battle is what counts..and you chose well....every day is a gift...and to live and love is the best we can do..You and Thunder had 20 years of "gifts" and as I know your heart is hurting...please know that Thunder belonged with you in this last battle as she was in the very best hands there are...I know there is little I can say right now ..except thank you for sharing your very special Thunder with us...it is a honor reading about her...and you...

May you see the bright glow of the candles shining...

Godspeed angel Thunder...free of illness and pain

Love to you,
Carol

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.

I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.

I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.

For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Through your love for Thunder, we came to know her.
Through your care for Thunder, we came to know you.
Through your shared bond, we came to know something of the Divine,
And something of ourselves.

Thunder's spirit is in all of our hearts.

Ned, in my mind's eye, Thunder will always be the innocent-looking little fuzzball you have as your avatar -- just looking up at you with a "Hi, look at how cute I am" face. That's her, right now. No meds, no pain, not tired, running around happy again with all of our blessed little angels.

I hope you're OK, Ned. Most of us here know how hard it is to lose our best friend and we worry about you, too.

God be with both of you.

God speed pretty Thunder.  I really am at a loss for words, they just dont seem to portray what I feel or my wishes for you.  I wish you could be spared the grief and heartache you will be experiencing but sadly, along with love comes those feelings when we lose someone we care about.  I just hope you will be OK, I know things are going to be very quiet and difficult for you in the coming days.  Please let us know how you are doing.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ned, I know how your heart is breaking today.  We are thinking of you. Please take care of yourself. Each day it becomes a little easier as you realize that you did all you could for her in life and then helped her pass with dignity.

Like bug, I know she will visit you soon to reassure you that she is OK and to tell you how much she loved you and appreciated all you did for her. Just listen...you will know.

Miss me a little--but not too long
And not with your heads bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
And know my Soul keeps marching on

Come, listen to my soul-song!
Hovering o'er the clouds,
Lingering o'er the lea—
I am running wild, dancing or skimming in eternity!
No longer weary, filled with strength untold,
I will wait here for thee!

And when you listen close and deep, you will hear my soul whispers to you
And in your hearts you all will know

Hello my sacred friends, it is me!

In the rising of the sun and its going down,
We remember her.

In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
We remember her.

In the opening of the buds and in the rebirth of spring.
We remember her.

In the blueness of the skies and in the warmth of summer,
We remember her.

In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn.
We remember her.

In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember her.

When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember her.

When we are lost and sick of heart,
We remember her.

When we have joys and special celebrations we yearn to share,
We remember her.

Sp long as we live, she too shall live, for she is part of us.
We remember her.

Ned that was a beautiful memorial. I think sometimes the hardest part of losing them after a long illness is the sudden change. Your whole day and night revolve around meds, fluids, feedings and litter trips and then not only are they gone, but your whole routine is changed. It just makes you cry every time you start to jump up to do something for them. Hugs.

Ned, that tribute video is wonderful. I didn't know you'd had her since she was just a tiny kitten. It must be like not remembering life without her. I know exactly what you mean about the meds. Time is told by those medications and when you don't have to do it anymore, you don't even know what time it is. My heart is just breaking for you. I so hope there are people around that can help comfort you right now.

It is a very sweet and beautiful tribute to Ms. Thunder Kitty.  The last few slides are very sad, but the first ones are wonderful.  What a funny little puffball girl she was!  That tiny little pointed tail that curved upward was so silly.  And what a gorgeous girl in her prime, big beautiful eyes and that pretty unique coat.  How very special to have been able to share 20+ years together.

Sandi, I thought I was doing pretty good, but these last couple days have been really hard. The first day wasn't too bad. I was sad, but Thunder died a good death and I was glad for that. I felt relieved that she wasn't struggling anymore and that I didn't have to deal with her endless medications. After about 24 hours though, reality set in and I realized just how much of my time was taken up with caring for my dear kitty. Now I have all day and nothing to do. No medicines, no trips to the cat box, no feedings, no more updates to Itchmo. And worst of all no Thunder here to keep me company.

This is what I did for Thunder on June 24(not including all the massages, petting, singing, ect):

6:30am take to catbox for pee
6:35am 4 tsp broth
8:30am take to catbox for pee
9:25am 1 tsp AD
10am pheno
11am take to catbox for pee
11:05 am 4tsp broth
12pm keppra
2pm buprenex
2pm take to catbox for pee
2:05pm 4 tsp broth
4pm take to catbox for pee
4:05pm 4 tsp broth
4:10pm pred
4:15pm 2 tsp AD
6pm take to catbox for pee
6:05pm potassium
7:25pm lactulose
7:30pm 4 tsp broth
7:45pm take to catbox for pee
9:30pm 3tsp AD & some kibble
9:45pm take to catbox for pee
10pm pheno
11pm buprenex
11:45pm lactulose
11:45pm take to catbox for pee
11:50pm 4tsp broth
1230am keppra
2am take to catbox for pee
5:30am take to catbox for pee

I'm having a hard time adjusting especially with trying to clean the house. Thunder's things are all over the place and I can't bring myself to throw them out. Every once in a while I find a lonely piece of kibble and it makes me feel sad. It's also been over 100 degrees the last few days so I'm stuck in the house all day. The new air conditioner has really helped and I just wish Thunder was still here to enjoy it.

Since it is summer and vacation time, have you considered offering to care for pets while their humans are away? That may be a way to earn some small change plus get some time with the animal world too.

I've taken care of pets while their humans are away and found it a rewarding experience.

That list made me remember the last entries in my journal for Kaffe  :'( :'( :'(.  And yes, the days feel suddenly empty, but I filled them up by writing and writing about Kaffe (I was afraid I would forget little things, you see...) and going out to shops and yes, actually buying little things FOR Kaffe:  picture frames, candles, ribbons, special boxes to keep his things in... maybe these activities helped me, I don;t know...  But whenever I stopped, I would howl in pain and longing... prayers, prayers prayers... these helped me tremedously to see and know that the parting is just temporary.

We're here for you Ned, each one of us who know what you are going through right now.

Ned, I am so sorry.  Thunder had been so much of your daily routine that much of your life is altered. :'(  I second Cato in thinking that perhaps spending some of that time in remembering her in various ways--writing, creating a memory book, something like that--might help you not to feel so empty, until time helps you to get a bit used to the change.

If you would like to share them, we would love to hear stories of Thunder here.  From her memorial video, it seems as though there would be good stories to tell.

Ned,
I hope it helps to know that we are with you and thinking about you.  I know there is a huge emptiness, especially because Thunder had many special needs in recent months.  I (and I know, many here) have felt a similar vacancy, and loss of purpose.   I would venture to hope that you might ready your place for a new kitty.  It might seem early or disrespectful to mention, but I just know Thunder would approve.  You are such a rare and loving caregiver.  And there are so many cats who need a loving home.  When you are ready, I hope you will share the experience of your next cat with us.
Blessings on you, and Angel Thunder.

Yes, Ned.  Please tell us about Thunder?  How did you two meet; her favorite foods; the funniest things she did; was she always an "only child"; her pet hates...

Title: Re: Beloved THUNDER has Gone Ahead to the Bridge
Post by: NedF on June 30, 2009, 08:20:10 PM
I didn't name her Thunder. I named her Pixel because she was so tiny! She fit in the palm of my hand. I worked as a graphic artist back then and we had this newfangled thing called desktop publishing where you did all your typesetting and design on a computer! How cutting edge we were! One day, a girl in the printing dept. came back from lunch with a tiny, cute little kitten her friend had given her. We all gathered around and oohed and aahed for a while then went back to work. About an hour later, the girl comes into the design dept. and says, "You're going to have to take this kitty. I have two big dogs and they'll eat it!" Well who can refuse an offer like that? So I take the kitten and put her in a paper grocery bag and put it under my desk between my legs. We were all trying to hide the kitty so the boss wouldn't find out we had an animal in the building. I can still remember looking down into the bag and seeing the little kitty look up at me with big eyes and meowing at me. She did this every time I checked on her.

I took her home and told my friends I had a new kitty. A few days later, they all came over to see her. By that time she was thoroughly bonded to me and would run to me whenever she was scared by something or was just wanting somewhere safe to rest. She sat there with me while my friends admired her and after a little while she loosened up a bit and started playing. Once she realized she was safe, even around these big new humans, she started tearing around like a little fuzzy tornado! She just did not stop running around. She would run at us as fast as she could and at the last second, jump up in the air with all four legs spread wide! It seemed like she would hang there in midair for a split second and then she was off running around the room! After about 5 minutes of this, she took one last run at my friend Mary, sprang into the air right in front of her, and Mary went "Aaah! Thundercat!" The little kitty was exhausted after all that running around and she ran back to me, plopped down in my lap and immediately went to sleep. I said "That's her real name - Thunder." And everyone agreed!

Oh Ned,what a great way to have found her name ! I know you probably don't feel ready yet,but as many of us have found sometimes fate puts a needy animal in our path. I like to think its our angels sending us someone new to help with our grief.

What a great way to have given Thunder her name. Appreciate your sharing stories about this special girl. I too was not ready right away. Took many months before I was so missing opening the front door and being greeted by a tail that wagged the whole body that I knew it was time to find a new baby to take care of and love. We all have our own way of knowing when its time.......

Thank you for sharing the beginning of the Thunder & Ned story!  I can just see that little daredevil flying at everyone with all paws extended.  A Thunder memory thread would be wonderful if you can get to the point of being able to record it without it being too painful.

Another idea in addition to cat sitting would be to put in a few volunteer hours a week with a cat rescue group so you can get an occasional kitty fix.  Or foster a litter of babies?  (warning, you might want to find a no-kill group if you decide to volunteer or you could end up with way too many cats!)

The flying kitty story made me chuckle, Ned... I can just picture a tiny fluffball speeding up, jumping and just hanging in mid-air...  :D  A Thundercat indeed!  You two seemed to have been fated to be together, and such a bond lasts forever.

More Thunder stories, K?  I'll come here and check everyday!

That was a heartwarming description of how Thunder came to live with you, Ned. I wonder if Thunder ran around and jumped in the room trying to get someone to call her right name. Once the name was called and agreed upon, she could go to sleep. She knew she could help with the name. Smart kitty. :)

Ned, just sharing my story and how it's turned out for me.

When Dexie (CJ's sister) died six years ago, I was devastated. I was still volunteering with the local humane society (always had a foster or two) and shortly after she died, they asked me if I would foster a mom and litter of kittens. They were swamped and actually euthanizing moms and kittens for space. How could I refuse? I knew I could give them the basics but I surely wasn't going to be able to give them much emotionally because my grief was so intense. Well, it was the best thing I could have done, and it was done in gratitude to Dexie and what she had given me in her 7 short years. Fast forward . . . I still have three of that litter of five today.

Last night on the news the same humane society was asking for foster homes for kittens. I can't do it myself right now for obvious reasons, but thought of you and wondered if you might be willing to let another needy cat or kitten into your home for just a little while.

You know what you can do, but it turned out to be the very best decision I could have made.

Oh, Ned. That was just an awesome story. Like Cato's stories of Kaffe, I would love to hear more about Thunder's adventures.

The first time I was out living on my own, I found my very first cat, Moo. She was my only kitty girl for 12 years and then she left me thanks to cancer. I know that when I lost Moo, I wouldn't have cared if the house burnt down. There was nothing in it that really mattered when my late dh and I weren't home.

When he and I were younger and had just gotten married, we were having the talk about kids. He said, "You can't just have one or two. If you have one, and they leave, then you have none. If you have two and they fight, there is no tie-breaker. If you have three and one leaves, then the other two have each other. You always need three. Three is a good number."

We never had kids, but we also never had less than three cats in the house. The wisdom of a 20 year old. It still holds true for me today and has helped save me in the loss of both Red and Bones.

I hope you can find your way.

Ned, I love your story about how Thunder and you met and how she got her name.  I would love to hear more Thunder stories, I loved reading Kaffe's stories and looked forward to each new installment.  I understand how strange your life feels after you lost an ill pet.  When Brown passed, I was at odds as to what to do with this new time, I literally was medicating or checking on him every two hours around the clock.  I was exhausted, emotionally and physically, unfortunately Snowy was diagnosed with cancer exactly two weeks later and the whirlwind  began again.  Often I would compare my life with a roller coaster ride. I just didn't what kind of day either of them would have and it was so emotionally draining through those ups and downs and the millions of tears that were shed on the bad days to be followed by rallies.  I didn't know how to react once it was over with which only depressed me more, because I found myself missing them even more.  You are not alone.  You have been on my mind and in my prayers.  {{{{hugs}}}}.

I gave a nice framed photo of Thunder to my vet. I think it's a great picture for a vet's office!

Ned, that's a really nice urn you picked and a great photo that, I'm sure, your vet will love. It always seems so strange to me when I talk to Bones' and Red's urns -- as if they were in there. I talk to their pictures all the time. At work, I got myself an electronic picture frame so I can have as many pictures of them as I want, all day long. I talk to those too. Quietly.

If you ever want to talk shop or swap trade secrets, just to keep you busy, I'm a graphic designer as well. PM me anytime.

I was always glad to bring them home. Somehow it brought me closure and peace. I think her resting box is lovely, Ned. Keeping busy is a good thing, too.

Love the photo - and I'm sure the vet did, too. Imagine it's hard for them, too, after caring for an animal for so long.

All of your stories and suggestions have helped ease the pain of losing my sweet girl. It still hurts when I think about it but I seem to think about it a little less often each day. Sometimes the day will be going along just fine and all of a sudden I will be hit by a big wave of grief. It happened to me last night, just before bed of course! I know that this will fade in time, but I am afraid my memories of Thunder will fade too.

Today I'm going to a barbeque. It will be good to get out of the house and see my friends. I haven't really seen them since Christmas. Guess what? The barbeque is at Mary's house!

Ned, many people find that writing down their memories of the lost one is comforting.  And this would ensure that you won't forget, because the written memories will always be there to remind you when you want.  You have your photos of her, too.

I hope you have a good time today, and that you and Mary will have a chance to share the stories of Thunder Cat.

Hi Ned,

I don't know who Mary is (I guess I haven't been on this thread long enough), but I hope you have a good time. I, too, feel that maybe one day I'll forget all of the things my boys did that I thought were so sweet and funny, so I'm going to be writing all of them down in a diary -- right after the logs I kept when they were going through their illnesses. It might help if you created a book for yourself with pictures and memories. You can revisit Photoshop and if you have InDesign, you'll have a great time putting it all together.

It's so hard to deal with the "physical" loss of our companions. Our first three felines were with us from kittens till they left this earth life to go home. Now only happy memories remain. I was thinking about them last night. It was so soothing recalling and remembering all the great times and adventures we had together. I've had dreams with them also over the years. I "feel" their presence often. I'm still not over losing April last Oct quite yet.  Even with Sash with us now.  It really hit me hard.  So even though their spirits are elsewhere it's amazing how rich and joyous the sacred bond is and how our relationship continues although it's in a form that transcends human understanding. And therein lies the lesson.

The BBQ was ok, just a few people. It was a little sad because my other friend had lost her service dog to cancer 6 months ago and she was still missing her. We did have some delicious chicken though! Thunder would have loved it!

Back in January I started a book about Thunder but I had to stop as her care took up more and more of my time. I think I'm going to go back and try and work on it some more. Hopefully I will be able to do it without getting too sad!

I have been really sick for the last week but I am feeling a little better today. I'm still getting used to having an empty house. This is the first time I've lived totally alone!  :o I've always had kitties and housemates to keep me company. I don't like this living alone thing at all! The first few days after I got Thunder's ashes back, I carried her urn with me from room to room to keep me company. Sounds a little weird but she always wanted to be right with me, so it seemed like the right thing to do. Now she rests on my bed next to my pillow - her favorite spot when she wasn't on my lap.

I hear ya, Ned. Living alone bites and I can't actually say that I've been truly alone as I've always had one or more cats to keep me company if there were no humans living with me. I hope you can adjust or change the situation if it becomes unbearable. Please keep in touch, even maybe start a new thread about your new life and what you're doing under "off topic" -- we don't want to lose track of you -- you have a wealth of knowledge to offer and we have really appreciated everything you've helped us with.

Hugs Ned. I hope you are feeling better soon, the empty house thing is very hard to adjust to. I've never been totally without pets, except right after marriage because we didn't want to move our dogs & cats away from our parents homes. Even then saw them multiple times a week. I've never been 1 to go adopt a new pet right after losing 1,but after losing Patches I did. When we adopted Oreo & Punkin they needed a lot of care & attention [former ferals from the shelter]. That helped with the emptiness after all the medical care for Patches. I still think she sent me to the shelter,it would have been Punkins last day if we hadn't taken him.

Ned that is a beautiful urn for Thunder. Memories will never fade. My two shelties, Heather and Bianca,  that I had for 16 years I can still remember all the adventures and exciting times we had and how I trained them - the memories are as vivid now as they were back then.

An empty home gets to you I know. After Lady went to the bridge it took me 6 months til I couldn't stand the emptiness not only in the rooms but in my heart and I adopted from a shelter my baby Foxy Lady. She was called Princess but changed that.

I donated the last of Thunder's food (a case of Wellness and some other odds and ends) to a local cat rescue group on Sunday. Of course, I had to stay for a while and look at the kitties they had for adoption. They had lots of them sadly. Some of them did get adopted which is good. It's too soon for me to get another cat but the people were happy to get the food donation!

I have started carving an urn for Thunder. Years ago I used to be a woodcarver but I haven't carved in a long time, mainly because I had a spine injury which partially paralyzed my right arm. It's better now but has never really recovered. But I wanted to try and carve a nice urn for Thunder.

First try at carving a cat! Definately not my best work. I had a hard time controlling the tools! Then I got flustered and couldn't remember even basic things like how to simulate different depths. I'm going to have to calm down and start again!

I'm glad you were able to get Thunder's food to a shelter -- she definitely is happy about that. I also think it takes guts to go to one and subject yourself to all the cats looking for a home and know that you're not ready yet, but open to what might be in your future.

The carving is beautiful! I think Thunder would agree, but if you're going to start again, what are you going to do with the one you just did?

Title: Re: Beloved THUNDER has Gone Ahead to the Bridge

I agree, that carving looks beautiful ! What a great way to show all the love you have for her. It is hard to go to the shelter after a loss, but I know they need and appreciate the donations. Be careful if you aren't ready yet though, thats how I ended up with Punkin and Oreo. Punkin was down to 3 days before being pts,and Oreo attacked me as I walked through which reminded me of Patches. Both were ferals that got picked up and Oreo probably would have found a home[6 months old and at least part Norwegian forest cat] but Punkin was obviously not young and looking pretty dirty and battered. So I put in to take both, but said if someone else wants them go ahead with the adoption. 3 days later I had 2 cats.

Thank you everyone for your compliments! I feel much better now as I was quite depressed in how bad my skills have gotten. I think it's partially my injury and mostly my lack of practice! Today went a lot better! I decided to be more stylized in the carving rather than more realistic like I originally wanted. The box is pretty small and the wood is not the best quality so I have to do a little less detail.

bug, I'm going to finish this box and if it's not good enough for Thunder I will maybe use it to keep a few of her toys that I can't bear to throw out. I have more than one box so if I make a mistake I can just carve another one!

Ned I think your box is very artistic. You are able to show us Thunder with a few deftly placed lines. Not everyone can do that. And not everyone who can do it, could come back after being out of practice, and work so precisely. The box reflects the love and caring that the two of you have.

Your Star Wars box is very beautiful, also.

Ned,

Just got back to this thread. Your carvings are wonderful! And for God's sake -- the one you're working on is a perfect resting place for Thunder. We both know that it is the imperfections that make art unique. If everyone carved our perfect likenesses of photographs, then what would be the point of carving at all -- just paste on a photo. Aside from your work being beautiful, it's the labour of love that Thunder and all of us appreciate. Who would go to such lengths to provide such a beautiful memento of a long, incredible life. Don't you dare go to box number 2. Save the other boxes for her toys.

Cheese popcorn is yummy!

This is the last except for the back panel which will have her name and dates. Now I have to look into finishes and get some nice velvet to line the inside.

Ok I did a little more:

Name and dates

Heart with kitty paw prints on the back

And what the heck, I carved the bottom too:

(it says "how dare you attack my defenseless underside!"  ;D)

Now I just have to apply the stain and finish.

JJ, I think I will use purple velvet. It fits with the royal dignity all cats seem to have!

It's funny that the bottom panel turned out so well. I was going to use that belly pose on one of the side panels but I decided not to because it was too much detail with the fur. Then I thought I'd give it a try on the bottom and if it turned out bad no one would see it! I think it turned out the best! I just sketched it in and carved it up and it came out perfect!

The urn is almost done!

I normally use a light stain on my carvings, but a darker finish seemed more appropriate for an urn.

Applying the gold leaf.

The inside with purple velvet cushioned bottom. I will have to redo the gold leaf since it tarnished(!) when I applied a sealer. >:(

There's no reason to close the chapter, Ned. You can keep talking to her, you can talk about her to others -- there's no reason not to keep her memory alive in all you do. Finish the urn so she can say she has the home you wanted to give her. I think it'll make you feel better.

Today I was vacuuming the house and the vacuum started smelling like burnt rubber so I decided to take it apart and see what the problem was. It turned out there was a bunch of hair tangled around the roller brush and it was interfering with the belt. It was clearly black cat hair around the roller but when I cut the hair off the roller, look what I found:

The outer part was Stormy's long black hair but the inner part was Thunder's fur! It was such an odd reminder of my sweet kitty girl!

My optical mouse has been malfunctioning too. And when I took it apart to clean it:

I wish I had reminders like this more often!

What a nice remembrance of Thunder.  {{hugs}}  :-*

DH found black cat fur in one of our magazines the other day that had been stored since late 1990s.  Not sure which kitty was lounging in the magazine back then as we had 3 black/white kitties and 1 all black kitty and the rest were gray/white, orange/buff.

That's so sweet, & a little sad too.  If you gather enough Thunder fur (or combine with the other cats' fur), you could make one or more felt beads as a little rememberance:

I know the feeling, Ned.  It makes a person feel sad, but glad to remember at the same time.

That is a great link about making felt beads, petslave.  I've always thought there should be some use for all the "wool" that I brush from cats, especially Cameo Manx.

Thanks for all the cyber hugs! Most of the time now, when I think of Thunder, are all happy thoughts which make me smile, like finding her fur so unexpectedly. Once in a while I get really sad when I'm missing her sitting on my lap. She was such a lap kitty! Not like my two now who want nothing to do with me unless it's time to eat!

That felt hair bead link was interesting. I've never heard of making felt with cat hair! I wish I had saved some of Thunder's fur, I would make a cat-safe Christmas ornament!

I often stop a time or two
At where you used to be -
And when I do
I think of you,
And all you meant to me.

I stop to see the empty space -
I think of you and smile -
You made the world a finer place
For just a little while.

But time was only passing by
Before you had to go -
And though I understand the why,
I wish it wasn't so.

You're always more than just a pet,
And that can never end -
A part of life I can't forget.

A piece of me.

A friend.

I was shopping the other day and I didn't have any bags in the car except for one really old one that I never use. So I grabbed it and headed towards the store and I noticed these long light colored hairs all over it. I stopped and was trying to figure out what that was from when I realized it was Thunder's fur! I stood there for a few moments thinking about her and wondering should I use this bag. I didn't want to disturb the fur as weird as that sounds. I went ahead and finished my shopping when I remembered she's always with me in my heart.  :-*

I’ve had similar moments of pause, Ned, so it’s not weird to me at all.
