Title: new arm covers
Post by: Sandi K on January 05, 2012, 09:36:20 AM
We got some new arm covers for our chair, isnt it funny how they look like a cat?  errrr....oh wait...that is a cat.   :D

Sophs is having another one of her spells.  It seems like she has some problem every couple of weeks.  She had diarrhea for a couple of days, clear out of the blue again, and hasnt been feeling too well since.  Poor Sophs...sigh..hopefully she will perk up again like she has before.  Ive started keeping a diary on these spells to see if there is any sort of pattern....dont know if it will help but at least it gives me something to show the vet next time she has a check-up.  :-\

LOL on the "arm covers"!  Just don't try resting your arm on that cover...

I'm sorry to hear that she's going through one of her not-feeling-well spells again, and I hope it's a short one.  I think your idea of keeping a diary of the spells is very good.  Do the droopy times always seem to correlate with diarrhea episodes?

Well not really.  She had an episode a few weeks ago where she threw up and then was running a low-grade fever for a couple of days and then bounced back after that.  Then about a month ago she just stopped eating and was running a fever and then got better in about 4 days, no diarrhea, no vomit.  Those times she wasnt eating well.  This time she has been eating pretty well, although not the normal amount, but just sleeping alot, not wanting to play but not running a fever.  It never seems to be the same each time.

Poor sophers :(  I hope it's just the cold and dreary blues.   :-*

Sandi,
So sorry Sophs is having problems.  She certainly has a look about her, that she doesn't feel up to par.
Is she possibly dehydrated? (I know that doesn't solve your mystery).

Gosh Sparty, I hadnt thought of that but I dont think so, she has been eating pretty normally and Ive seen her drinking water.  We also add water to her wet food ever since the UTI episode she has.  She is up right now finally, so maybe she will come out of whatever this is.

You can check her hydration by feeling her gums [they should be pink & a small white area where you press], her eyes shouldn't look sunken or dull & by pulling a small piece of skin up on the back of her neck It should spring back quickly, if it doesn't she may be dehydrated. I realize this is Sophers, so wear appropriate body armor before trying any of those ! I don't think I would take her in or give any meds unless she gets worse or it lasts more than a few days. The vet visit & drugs always seem to make her sick longer. I definitely wouldn't put my arm on those chair chair covers either !  ;)

Well tonight she has been running around for the first time in a few days so that is good news.  The bad news is the attitude has returned, she just got through jumping up, scaring the heck out of me and grabbing my arm out of nowhere.  But I guess that bad news is actually good news as well, at least she feels like messing with me.  She was also funny.  Tonight she went in the bathroom, shut the door and then there was silence and then next we hear is her scratching in her litterbox.  ROFL, she actually went in and shut the door to go potty.  'A little privacy, please.'  We've been checking her rear a little more often in case of potty issues again so I think this was her way of telling us to leave her alone.  Nobody said she wasnt a smart girl, lol  :D

I checked her gums and they are pink and look fine.  Ive been thinking and I know for the last 2 weeks she had really been going and going and running around, tearing all over the place, just super active.  DH thinks he sees that she does this and maybe overdoes it and maybe with her immune system being out of whack, its just a little too much so then she goes into these not feeling well periods.  Maybe the diary Im starting to keep with help show if thats whats happening.

What a gorgeous arm cover!!  :D

I'm sorry to hear that she's been having more episodes.  That's just so frustrating - you're doing so much and are so careful.  I hope your diary will give you some answers, though it seems to me that you've tried so much already.

Big hugs to Sophs!!

I can't help but notice the empty bed next to her :D

LOL at her shutting the bathroom door!

LOL I have to say that new arm cover is a perfect fit...sorry to hear she had another episode of feeling not so well but glad she's bounced back a bit. I think the diary is a good idea, it will really help identify patterns. There's just something about having it all written out on a paper that helps.

So funny ;D ;D ;D about Sophs closing the bathroom door! Such a clever girl!
