Title: article by Dr Dzanis with Pet Food Industry denigrating pet owners
Post by: Sandi K on November 17, 2011, 11:08:50 AM
Over at truthaboutpetfood.com, they started a petition via the We The People petition section at Whitehouse.gov "We believe the Obama Administration should require the FDA to enforce the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act with pet foods."  Now, Dr Dzanis has written an outrageous article at PetFoodIndustry.com saying in part

"At the time of this writing, three days after the petition was posted, it had received approximately 400 signatures, or about 135 per day. Reportedly, many people have been having trouble logging on to the site to submit their signatures. I understand that some websites do not make it easy to interact, but considering that tens of thousands of supporters of marijuana law reform have been successful in signing petitions on the site, I find it hard to believe the process is too complicated."

From someone who is supposed to a professional and is a vet, his behavior is totally immature and whats more interesting, all he does is talk about the petition and the petition site rather than address the substance of the petition.  If anyone is interested in signing or sharing this petition with their friends, Facebook, Twitter etc, I think it would be great if it could get more signatures, if anything to show "Dr" Dzanis that he is the symptom of whats wrong with the pet food industry.  I suspect he knows they wont be able to get enough signatures so doesnt feel the need to address the substance of it.  The article at Truth About Pet Food is here http://www.truthaboutpetfood.com/articles/pfis-dr-dzanis-speaks-poorly-of-our-petition.html and the petition is here http://wh.gov/b1b

I wonder if a Canadian signature would count?

Much of the pet food sold in Canada is produced in the United States, so your signature should definitely count, as it tells them you won't be sending your money in their direction.  ;)

Here's the column and also the responses he's received so far--at this point, there are 4 and none are complimentary; one is from another DVM who is also a Cornell grad.
