Smoggy has an ear infection. I was brushing him last night and he wouldn't let me near his head. I managed to hold him long enough to look at his ear and he has some discharge and it looks irritated. Luckily the vet has an appointment open later this morning. I think this cat is going to bankrupt me!

It was a bacterial infection. They cleaned out his ears and gave him a Convenia shot so I don't have to try to put ointment into his painful ear. He goes for a recheck in a week. He ate a nice meal when we got home and now he's resting in my bedroom.

Lots of vomiting this morning.  Sad I gave him some Cerenia and that stopped the vomiting. He's eating about half of normal. On the positive side, he's not pawing at his ear and shaking his head as much, so it must be feeling a little better. He did come out and keep me company a little while ago:

Smoggy is feeling better but he is being really aggressive with Stormy. I think it's still bothering him. We go for a recheck on Tuesday. He's eating pretty well and hasn't vomited.

His ear is still infected so now we have ear drops for the next seven days. I wish I knew why he keeps getting sick all the time.

Poor little guy, I wonder if he has developed an allergy to one of the ingredients in his food?  He might be one of those super sensitive kitties.

He is definitely a sensitive cat. When I got him he had a fever coat and a urinary tract infection. I wonder if his immune system was affected by that.

So sorry to hear the infection is lingering and that he seems prone to ongoing health problems. I hope he gets better as quickly as possible.

Smoggy had his recheck today and his ear looks good with no redness or discharge. He's still scratching at it a bit so I have to keep an eye on him but the vet thinks it's all cleared up. She gave him a final ear cleaning and thankfully there was no charge for this visit! Smoggy was a good boy and didn't yowl or hiss the whole time. I gave him some yummy Sheba when we got home.
