Sandik,
What did your vet say about the limping episode? Are you still going to get her checked out?

JustMe, I havent told the vet coz it disappeared so quickly, no sign of any problems. I am watching her and if it happens again I will take her to the vet. I do have to take her back in to get the abscessed toofie checked in another 5 days or so and I will mention it then.

Well Sophers turned up with that darn limp again this morning so I will be calling the vet when they open in about a half hour to get an appt for today and see whats going on. It appears to be the left side best we can tell, maybe the hip area altho I think I might feel some swelling in her calf area but cant tell for sure with all that fur.....

I hope you can get to the bottom of it, and that it will be some minor condition that is easy to treat.

Holding good thoughts for Sophers, too, Sandi. But since it's come back, it's a good thing to check on.

Hope you find its something minor. Don't forget muscles & tendons won't show on an exray. For that you will need ultrasound or mri.

Well we are back from the vet appt this morning. The fill-in vet that we saw poked and prodded and listened to her heart, etc. He said her heart sounds most excellent, she has perfect blood flow, etc. He said he thinks she is a little tender on her right side but she was as wound up as a rubber band in the exam room so it was very hard to tell. He said she appears very healthy and with lack of any other symptoms he didnt want to do more of a work-up like x-rays, or ultrasounds as this point. Her gingivitis is mostly gone and her abscessed toofie is still a little red but is not as bad as before. So the diagnosis is a mild sprain that she keeps re-injuring. The home instructions are: She is to not jump or run around for a week....ya right, how do you tell a Maine Coon master-jumper that is barely a year old, that she isnt to jump or run. But Sophers has been banned from the downstairs (where there is a 6 foot tall bookcase that she kamikaze's off of), she is banned from the bedroom until I can get DH to move the armoire to another room (that she also takes flying leaps off of). There is no way I can keep her off the kitchen counter but if I see her up there, all I can do is get her down, I cant move or hide the kitchen counter. And no feather-string or at least as wild as her and DH get to playing every night. So basically there is no fun allowed in this household for Sophers for the next week. She was very scared at the vet office, a-shakin & a-tremblin. But she did manage to get one of her silent hisses in (she really needs to work on those if she thinks they are scary, they're not). And she got a quiet growl in once too.

She is to not jump or run around for a week.... Yeah, right. Good luck with that one. I'm glad she checked out okay. Phew. Good news on her mouth problems, too. Yes!

Glad to hear she's home & .. restricted sigh, right, it's a cat. (ETA: You might think about a crate/cage like JM has her kitties in for limiting Sophers activity) I was worried about a ruptured cruciate ligament. (Yup, worry wart here, once had a dog, Dingo, have one... & it's the main reason Scooter aka Miss NoGrace, doesn't have many launching places.) Did he give you any tranquilizers?
