My neighbor has to adorable puppies one is named Rowdy and he is a one year old Yorkie-Shituz mix and her newest addition Marshal a 16 week old Teacup Yorkie. Last Thursday, she took them both to the vet to get shots. Just routine right?! Well I talked to her on Friday afternoon and she was on her way to take Marshal to the vet because he husband called and said something was wrong with his eyes they were turning BRIGHT SKY BLUE. When she gets to the vet and after Marshal being in the back for an hour the vet comes out and tell her Marshal is blind due to swelling on the brain from Encephalitis and is in kidney failure. He was transported via vet to specialty hospital and kept for 3 days. The speciality hospital is suing the regular vet for amlpractice and payment due, 8k worth of bills it turns out the vet gave Marshal who is only 1.8 Lbs a nasal Bordetella, a 1 yr Rabies and a 5-1 DHHLP, which practically killed the poor little guy. He is home now with 800 dollars worth of meds, 3 of which are eye drops, and he gets a huge dose of some pick liquid also. As of Tuesday when he came home he was responsive to light and the vet thinks since he is so young he will get his sight back as long as there isn't too much damage to the corneas and one kidney was fully functioning the other was partail. She goes on Thursday for a follow up please pray for the little guy he is a real heart breaker. When I saw him this past Friday he was very energentic but also aggressive due to the blindness am assuming. He is such a good boy with his eye drops and liquid meds. Any other other advice or remedies would be appreciated also how do we make sure this vet gets on probation or something? Thanks again for letting me share my story, I haven't been around much this summer but I needed to share this with you all. Love, Lorie Topaz and Geisha

This is so sad! I agree that the vet who gave the shots should be put out of practice. I will add Marshal to the growing list of pets that need prayers.

Sending healing prayers for Marshall's complete recovery. Poor little guy. That vet is dangerous. Your neighbor should call the local TV station and report the vet to their consumer reporter. Maybe they'd chase him down and ask him why he tried to kill his patient. Other pet parents be warned!

Oh, that is just horrifying! How could that vet do that? It doesn't sound like a case of tainted vaccines since the second hospital is sueing.
I'll add poor Marshall to my prayers. It sounds like he might be fragile from this, but I'm hoping he'll get enought sight back so he's not afraid of people.

This is so heartbreaking. How do these awful things happen? I will be sending good vibes and hope that Marshall will pull through and that his young body will fight to get better.

1.8 lbs??!! What the hell was that vet thinking poisoning this tiny thing with that witches brew? Poor little guy, I sure hope he recovers as much as possible from this, and that vet is put out of business.
Great that the specialty clinic is pursuing a law suit. Those are the kinds of checks and balances we need to see that the negligent vets are run out.

Prayers and good wishes for Marshall's full recovery and for his parents. The mistakes made by this vet are way beyond poor judgement! This needs to be reported to the state licensing board and the media. I darn near crucified a vet for giving one of my cats a three year instead of one year vaccine without telling me what she was injecting first as it was well know to have caused sarcomas in many cats. We need to be proactive and question our vets as much as our own doctors now a days.

I hope Marshall recovers ! Sending prayers and positive thoughts his way. Good that the hospital is going after him and I hope your friend reports him also. She had better check what was given to Rowdy also,I wonder if the vet gave him the puppy shots ?I would get copies of all the records & have another vet check them to be sure.

Poor Marshall. I will keep him in my thoughts and I hope he recovers. I agree with MainMom that this needs to be reported to the state licensing board and media and throw in the AVMA too.
