I hope Rufus gets the help He needs. Poor guy, and poor Peg.
I'll be praying for you both.

These past few days have been total hell for my poor doll and me too to a certain degree.

He is incontinent from a urinary and a fecal perspective.
Lots of blood in the urine that I can see.
Lots of blood in the liquid feces.

Angel vet is still an Angel.
She said the incontinence may just be temporary............please dear Lord.....the poor boy has had enough and does not deserve this Cry

My gut tells me there is cancer somewhere in his body

I pray that Angel Vet is right and this, too, is transient.  Continued prayers for Rufus and you, Peg.

Poor Rufus!  I hope he feels better soon.  I'm sure your Angel Vet will be able to get to the bottom of this.  Hang in there Peg, I know it's hard not to worry but you are doing everything possible.

I would also like to know which foods are so high in copper.

Oh Peg, I hope not!  I pray that it's just something temporary and you find a way to get him well.

I will continue to pray for the both of you.

Lighting a candle and saying lots of prayers for Rufus that something treatable is found and he can pull out of this.  Prayers and strength to you too, Peg.  I know it must be hard seeing him like this & not being able to make him better.

That poor boy!  He is having such a rough time.  I am very glad you have angel vet and hope that they can figure out what is happening very very soon.  Hang in there Peg, I know how frustrated and worried and scared you must be.

I'm so sorry he's still not well.  Sad

He could not possibly be in better hands than with you and angel vet. Sending tons of good thoughts.

Thank you so very much for all your support, well wishes and prayers.
They are working..........Rufus is a bit better today Cheesy

Folks, I need your help.
Has anyone dealt extensively with hyperthyroidism in cats?

Sandi had asked me if Rufus was ever ested for hyperT?  Thank you Sandi Kiss
I went through all his paper work and the gazillion blood tests and he was never tested.
I think Angel vet would not object to doing that test at all.

I know in humans, that you can have a normal T4 and still have thyroid issues that are confirmed with other tests.
Does the same hold true for kitties?

Rufus has the chronic horrid diarrhea, eats like a horse and doesn't gain weight, and seems rather jumpy or antsy...........some of which are symptoms.
Maybe it wouldn't hurt to test.

Something was really wrong these past 7 days and although I don't think it was food related, I can't figure it out and neither can Angel vet.  She didn't  disagree when I said my gut tells me cancer..........but as she said, she'd not giving up on him yet.

Still waiting for the copper toxicity test. Undecided

My daughter's cat, Miss Skye (RIP), was diagnosed with hyperT, but it took several times for the bloodwork to show it. She ate a lot, but had terrible diarrhea and was very, very thin. Don't think it's unusual for it not to show up.

Glad Rufus is having a better day today. Hope it continues.

Continued hugs and prayers

peg, angelJessica was hyperT last November and her most noticiable symptom was she seemed very "unsettled" like she couldn't relax...and then she went for her recheck and had lost weight but she hadn't reduced her eating...she needed "send out" blood work..I think it was called thyroid panel---(TSH, T3, T4)..and it would have been a easy fix for her if her kidneys could have taken the medicine...and if she was younger she would ahve gotten the radioiodine treatment..I believe  the TSH level (thyroid stimulating hormone) is an important part of the dx...
