Still sending prayers for Sophers, and hopes the new vet can come up with something. The action of the other vet is beyond me, too - I just don't get it. Ours always tells us what she wants to do.

Sophers has an appointment with her new vet today.

Please lets muster up all the positive energy and prayers we can.
May Sopher's new vet find the answers and make her healthy again.

Prayers for strength for Sandi during this worrisome time

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers.  Sophers had her vet visit and the Dr doesnt really know as everthing is so vague as far as symptoms and lab reports, he could only guess IBD or FIP but said either of those might not be the problem.  She doesnt have the typical IBD symptoms, her intestines feel fine when he palpitated and she doesnt have the labwork and symptoms he would expect to see with FIP either.  He gave us appetite stimulant and Metronidizole but as of this morning Sophers has perked up and is eating very well (already 1/2 can), has that perkiness about her and her eyes look very alert instead of the foggy lethargic look she had to her before.  So for now we are going to wait and see how she does and the Dr is researching some tests to run on her and will call us once he's figured out what he wants to do.  She is still having diahrrea from the steroid injection but so far it has been twice a day so its bearable and should wear off as the injection wears down.  I am hoping its just some sort of mild virus that is running its course.

Well, there is good news in that it doesn't sound like typical IBD or FIP.  I'm glad she has perked up.  Hopefully that will continue.  Thanks for the update.

So glad all tests came back ok. And with Sophers eating no need for appetite stimulant - gawd maybe not on top of steroid shot. Leave well enough alone for now.

So glad to hear she is eating more. Sorry you got no definite answers though. Its hard not knowing what causes it. How did you like the new vet & staff ?

Well they told us the appt was at 2:00 but wrote it down for 3:00.  When we got there they had no record of our appt so I told them I would have to cancel rather than wait for an hour in the waiting room coz she was having diahrrea and waiting for an hour would stress her too much. So they squeezed us in so I dont know that the Dr was able to take the time with us that he would have with the scheduled appt.  The staff got mad at me even tho they screwed up the appt.  Rather than just apologize they got snarky when I said I would have to cancel and re-schedule..... I do like the fact that the vet is taking time to research some stuff for Sophers which is good and its not his fault that everything is so vague right now and hard to diagnose.

Sandi, sorry to hear you had headaches with the new vet clinic.  I understand your frustration with that and can't blame you for telling them you would reschedule having a cat waiting who is stressed out and having diarrhea at the same time.  I am glad the vet is trying to make an effort to find a course of action you can still take in the long run.  I do hope and pray for continued improvements with Sophers and pray that you can get a definitive diagnosis.

Oh and Sandi, it doesn't hurt to remind nasty staff that you are a client, especially a new one.

Sandi,
Hope the vet can come up with some ideas about testing.  Glad to hear that Sophers is eating a bit better, but if she is not eating about 2 cans a day soon, you might want to try that appetite stimulant to see how it works.  At this point, it can't hurt because you want her to eat as much as possible to regain some of that weight or at least stop the weight loss.  That can only happen if she is consuming enough calories.  Are you giving the Metronidizole as prescribed?  Maybe that will help also.  Continuing prayers that a solution is found and that Sophers improves over the short term.   Smiley

Sandi when someone is caught being exposed that they screwed up they try to cover that by being rude and sometimes outright nasty in their tone of voice. You are their customer and they should be taught the customer is always right if they want your business as peg said - the customer pays YOUR salaries. They probably had to have someone else wait to squeeze you in and probably had to explain why that happened. Glad you might have made them feel uncomfortable, tuff.
