I am writing to ask for prayers for my sweet Snoopy Sally.  He is 8 years old now, and has just been diagnosed with a 1 1/2 inch tumor in his pancreas. (as well as liver issues too)
My vet advises only palliative care, and he is home on pain med, and cortisone.  I am syringe feeding him, and it is getting more and more difficult.  The long lasting pain shot really helped him, and he was quite frisky for a couple days, but I fear it is wearing off now, and I am praying Monday will arrive soon so I can take him for another.

i am doing my best to syringe feed him, and was able to get  SIX 12 ml syringes of AD in  a day, for several days, but now he is getting very uncooperative, and somehow seems able to get the AD to SEEP out between his clenched jaws, although I am trying to hold him mouth closed as instructed.    I feel as if I am torturing him, but know he must get food, since he already has a touch of fatty liver.  The Vet says how long he will last depends on how much food he can get, and if he starts eating on his own.  So far he has only eaten a bit of dry Purina Indoor kibble a couple times a day (maybe 2 teaspoon fulls, not enough).  He wants NOTHING OUT OF A CAN, hence the syringe feeding.

Snoopy is one of my sweetest cats, and I am beside myself, so he could use any prayers possible. Thank you.

Oh dear, I am so very sorry to hear this. Do you think he's trying to tell you he's ready to rest? I hope you have lots of really special Bonus Time.
Keeping you both in my prayers.

I am sending prayers for Snoopy Sally. Please little one, eat something...

I am glad there is a pain med that will help keep him comfortable, and I hope you have many more good days together.

thank you all again, I don't kn ow what happened, I lost my reply in the middle.  But no, Snoopy is not eating, and I am still syringing.  I have an appointment for Snoopy at 3 pm.  Hopefully for another pain shot and cortisone and hydration.  I am just not able to end this yet, but of course what I am ready to do is not what is important.  I am hoping she will say that more shots will still be helpful.  Must go do some more cuddling.  I need to cry, need to get it out of me, but also don't want to get my bp up, 6 of this, 6 of the other.  I am just toooo old for all of this.  I just spoke to my son, and he said that his jaundice was not the painful kind, but Snoopy's might be because the pain shot perked him up so much on Thursday.  Must go and snuggle him a bit more before his appointment.

BW, so sorry to hear about Snoopy Sally Sad.  Hopefully, the appointment went well and the pain meds are working.  Hugs and prayers to both of you.  I know this is very hard.  If she's not eating the canned food, maybe try feeding her some raw meat.  Mine seems to take grind up pieces of raw beef or chicken.  Hope that you two have more quality time together.

Just a quick update. Snoopy was able to come home with me again today!!!  He had a pain shot, some cortisone, was hydrated, and fed, and only lost 2 oz in the last week.  The vet says he did not seem uncomfortable, and now of course he has his pain shot too.  She said that I will be able to tell when he is ready, and he is not at this time in her opinion,  and that he will absolutely NOT allow me to feed him at all.  So I have a bit more cuddling time with him.  I want to be with him, but do not want him to suffer on my behalf.   I have another appointment for another pain shot on Friday, if appropriate.  They are long lasting.   We will go day to day for  as long as he seems comfortable and like he is enjoying being here with us.    Thank  you all for your extremely kind messages.
Must go have a cuddle now.  Bless you all.

I know you will do what's best for him. I'm glad that it's not his time to leave you just yet. Hopefully he will start to eat and be able to enjoy those cuddles for a long while yet. Good news!

I'm sorry to hear your dear Snoopy has been diagnosed with this, BW.  I'll definitely send my prayers that you still have some good time left with him.  Did your vet mention anything about bupronex for pain management?  You can give a tiny bit of that orally once or twice a day.  It might let keep him at a little more stable level of pain relief than the long term injections.

I hope he will start eating a little for you too.  I'm sure you're trying a dozen types of food with him already.  Lightly cooked meats and baby food might also get him eating. Sometimes watering down the canned food a little and forcing it through a mesh sieve to get rid of any lumps encourages them to eat since it takes less energy to lap it up.
