Well just called the vet back and asked for the name, it is called a trichoblastoma (which sounds horrible) tumor. I looked it up on the internet, basically a tumor caused by a hair germ, in the follicle.

So this gigantic tumor (it weighed 8oz) was basically an ingrown hair??

Anyway these are almost always benign.

WOW what an Easter Miracle.

thank you all again

Maybe that's why it kept changing size & shape, db?  That didn't sound like something a cancerous growth would do.

Pass out the Easter eggs for everyone!

db:  Just found & read this thread.  I'm sorry for what you & wife (& poor Lakota) had to go through but really happy to hear the good news.  Would piss me off big time if Hannah was put through something like that at the vet's office.  I don't like when they are heavy handed.......maybe you should try another vet?  Good or not, I don't like what they did, especially after you warned them.  That happened to me once with my last Lab & I never went back.

Hannah is a little b**** when it comes to taking pills.  I found the perfect solution & it works like a charm.  If Lakota likes baloney, he'll love this.

I cut off a piece of hot dog (I get chicken or turkey......or if the baloney is beef, go for beef) & slip Hannah a piece......"oh yum, mommy, more please please please."  Then I cut off a second piece (I'm talking maybe an inch or half inch, depending on the size of the pill), take a sharp knife & hollow it out & pop the pill in there.  Then take the little piece of hot dog you just removed & stuff it back inside the hot dog.  Hannah scarfs that down in a second.  Then I give her another tiny piece to wash everything down.  It really works slick.  She looks forward to taking pills...... Wink

Glad it all worked out ok.....have a nice Easter....... Cheesy
