Very happy to hear that such a serious challenge worked out so well for you and Kitt'n.  You deserved a break!  It is inspiring to hear about a 20 yr old cat fighting so hard and your love and support.

Nabiya,

Many thanks to you and Kitt'n for the info on potassium.  I have put in a call to my vet about Gizmo whose serum potassium is on the low end of the range.  He is somewhat constipated and there is hind limb lameness.

Bless you and Kitt'n for sharing this information and Happy birthday to Kitt'n and all the best throughout the year.

Kitt'n update:  Today started out great for Kitt'n.  As soon as she saw me this morning she chirped a little and started purring real hard.  She hasn't done that for weeks.  She had two bowel movements yesterday and they were perfect, well formed, no blood and no straining.  I've been waiting to see this to make sure she was still digesting her food and of course not constipated any longer.  My husband and I almost started crying when we saw the first one (kinda sick, aren't we??).  She looks much better today and now makes eye contact with our faces, which she also hasn't done for days (she would just stare out into space).

She's still only about 4 lbs. and we are still doing the assisted feeding through a syringe, but she doesn't mind and I can measure how much we're getting into her then.  She's also more active today, but I'm trying to keep her somewhat contained so she doesn't burn a lot of calories she doesn't have to begin with.  My husband and I are taking turns staying with her at home so we can feed her every 2-3 hours and also administer the drugs she's on.

Tomorrow is her 20th birthday and I'm sure she'll be here for the festivities!  Along with Natasha who's turning 18 and Perseus who's turning 9.

Thanks again for all the prayers and wishes!
