Thanks for all the well wishes! KD saw the suitcases come out, so now of course she's being a total suck and trying to make me feel guilty. But she'll do fine with my parents - she likes any person that will pet her.  She's got her carrier, which she often sleeps in voluntarily, and her favourite blanket and toys. I've suggested they keep her in one room for a day, so she can figure out where her food and litter box are before she gets out into the rest of the house. We live in a one-bedroom apartment, so she's not used to a lot of space. I wonder if she can figure out stairs?  Luckily she's not big on the great outdoors. Never tries to get out here - once last week she poked her head out in the hallway and promptly ran back inside. Fudge (their cat of many years who recently died of old age) was a real escape artist, so they're used to sticking their feet in the doorway to keep the cat in. When we get back, I'll fill you all in on KD's big adventure! |

We're back, and KD had a great time! Apparently she stayed pretty cautious for the first day, but quickly made herself at home in the big house. She ate, not well, but at least something, and her fluids went just fine. When we got there to pick her up, she was snoozing on top of the sofa (this despite my parents' contention that cats are not allowed on furniture ... yeah right. ). I tried to put her in the carrier and she didn't want to go in - a very good sign of how comfortable she was there. It's good to know that we now have cat-sitters that she's comfortable with and that can handle her medical needs. |
