Just wanted to let everyone know that after months of vet visits and worrying if Keira had lymphoma, we FINALLY had results that proved that it is NOT lymphoma!  They gave her another sonogram and aspirated a lymph node and it is not cancer!  So she has Inflammatory Bowel Disease and we just have to live with that.  She's been doing remarkably well on her homecooked diet, so I am very pleased.

Thank you all again for all your thoughts and prayers.  I'm so relieved!   Cheesy

Thanks for the very good news. I live with an IBD cat and so far she's doing very well, too.

I too am very happy to hear that it is not lymphoma.  IBD is not fun, but it can be managed.  Glad to hear that the home-cooked diet is working for her.

Oh, that is great news.  What a relief.

We've got a couple IBD cats here.  Our adults have done well since moving to grain-free, but I have a feeling one of our kittens may have IBD.

May I ask what you are cooking up for her?  I hadn't thought about the cooking route for IBD, I'd been interested in what you are feeding if you want to share.  If not, that is fine, too.   Wink

To add:  It seems like vets are in a hurry to diagnose lymphoma, especially if they feel thickened bowel loops.  They thought our 17-year-old cat had lymphoma when he was only a few years old.  Vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, mucus in the diarrhea, thickened bowel loops (intestines).  He had an exploratory laparotomy, biopsies negative.  That was at least 13 years ago.  He never stopped having intermittent diarrhea and the above symptoms until we switched him to grain free wet a little over a year ago.  That worked for him, as well as as my 8-year-old with IBS.  May not work for others.  Just our experience.

I'm so glad to hear that Keira does not have lymphoma, and that her IBD is responding to the diet!

This is great news Moonlight
If there has to be something, IBD is the better of the choices.  Not fun but managable. Smiley

Thank you all again for your well wishes!  It really means a lot to me! Smiley

JustMe -

I boil chicken breasts and blend it with a sweet potato and add a little pasta (Orzo's).  Then I add the supplements!  In the morning, Keira gets one acidophilus, one digestive enzyme, egg shell calcium, and a tiny bit of Missing Link Vegetarian Formula.  At night, she gets another enzyme, calcium, Missing Link and I add one 500mg capsule of Glutamine and a vitamin.  (I read that Glutamine was good for "leaky gut syndrome.")

So far, she's been doing extraordinarily well on this diet!!

That's terrible about your cat!  Thank goodness it wasn't lymphoma!  What kind of cat food do you use?

Moonlight, thank goodness it wasnt lymphoma, whew!  After our prior kitty developed IBD with severe diahrrea, we researched like crazy and learned that many times (but not always) the IBD is from some sort of food intolerance or reaction to a certain ingredient.  We found after a year of food trials with her that it was anything with fish and try to find a cat food that doesnt have some sort of fish in it.  Once we got rid of anything fish, within a week her stools dramatically improved and after a few weeks, she had perfect stools after a year or more of constant diahrrea.

Oh this is some great news!  So glad it turned out to be "just" IBD and not lymphoma.  At least that can be managed for life.  That's wonderful the home diet is working so well.
