I don't know how to write this post.

I'm going to be brief because I can't spend too much time thinking about it or I'll panic and hyperventilate.

Mooch started feeling a little off about two weeks ago.   We had transitioned his IBD steroids down to once every three days, so I figured maybe that was what was going on.

This morning I woke to find Mooch breathing very quickly and shallowly, and he looked just awful.

The vet has found a 5 cm tumor in his stomach.  His stomach and lungs were full of liquid so they removed it.  They took a biopsy and the results will come in a week but the doctor thinks we shouldn't wait.  Mooch is having chemo tonight as I type.  The doctor fears it is lymphoma.  He checked Mooch a month ago and the lump wasn't there.  It has just happened in these past couple of weeks.  My beautiful baby boy Mooch isn't yet even 4 years old.

Why?  Why?........

I will go be with Mooch around noon tomorrow and then the doctor said he's hoping I'll be able to take him home in the evening so he can be more comfortable.

I'm just... I'm just in disbelief.  I'm so sorry to be away for so long only to come and post such horrible news.  I was preparing photos and things to post for the Tinies' birthdays but,... oh my god, I just can't believe this is happening.

I am so sorry August. Sending prayers and positive thoughts to you and Mooch. Its possible the steroids were keeping it from growing and as they were cut down, it grew more quickly. Is the vet talking about chemo only or surgery also ? You may want to ask him if continueing the steroids would slow things down or if it will interfere with the chemo drugs. Lighting a candle for you both and sending big hugs !

OMG, August  Cry,

Are they able to remove it as well as do the chemo? I hope it isn't lymphoma and it's treatable. Poor Mooch. Thanks for letting us know and please, don't apologize for not being here for awhile. Take care of yourself, too. I wish I could be there to give you a hand. We all know how hard it is caring for a sick pet while still having other things we have to do. I really hope the biopsy comes back as something that can be treated.

ETA: I feel like all your babies are mine, too, because you've posted so much about them and all their pictures and how they've grown up. It's really hard for me to hear this and I'm going to light a candle right now.

My little babies, you'll always be in my heart. Mom will see you later. Look after each other, ok?

Oh, August, I am devastated to hear this.  Like others, I feel very close to Mooch because of having seen his pictures and heard so much about him here.  Sending many, many good vibes and healing thoughts to Moochie and to you. Thank you so much, in the midst of all you are needing to do, for letting us all know.

Many {{{hugs}}}.

I am so sorry August  Cry Cry Cry Cry I think Mooch holds a special place in all of us. He is such a character. I hope it's not lymphoma. My Gremlin had lymphoma and hearing that young Mooch may have it is heartbreaking. I don't think I'm going to get much done today.  Cry I will be thinking of you and Mooch.

My heart is breaking to read this sad news about Mooch, August.  I hope they can get most of it during surgery, and he is able to start on chemo.  He is young so should be able to tolerate both well.  I'll send prayers that it all goes well.

I talked to a woman last year at the big vet clinic near Seattle.  I asked about her cat that she had with her - she went through surgery & chemo for a large intestinal lymphoma growth and had gone a year with no sign of it recurring.  Keep up the hope!
