((((((Peg))))))    ((((((((((((Gizmo)))))))

That's so sad I wish they could offer you something concrete, I'm so very sorry for you and Gizmo.  Can your regular vet give something for pain?  Or can't they because of the heart issue?

What a wonderful kitty Gizmo must be to take all those tests. He must be a real angel.

Thursday October 4 was the Feast of Saint Francis of Assissi, the patron saint of animals.  Gizmo definitely felt all of the energy and prayers coming from you.  At one point during the day I got hit with it too!!  It was the most amazing feeling.  The power of prayer and good strong energy.  Thank you all!!!

I don't understand why there are horrible illnesses bestowed on those with 4 legs and tails.
They just don't deserve this.

I started Gizmo on the pred Thursday night and I don't think it will do anything at all.  I know he's only been on it a short time, but I honestly don't think there will be much time left.  He still has a wonderful appetite, but to me he looks emaciated.  The muscles in his left rear leg have atrophied so badly in less than 2 days, you can barely see the toes and he can no longer separate them.

My husband keeps saying how good he looks, probably trying to help me keep up my hopes.  I am really starting to lose hope.  I have found a few case studies, this is so rare in cats, and the outcome for those cats in a very short time was euthanasia.  All of Gizmo's blood numbers and all of the results from the other tests are all really crappy.

I love him so much, but I don't want him to suffer.  I need to keep him as comfortable as possible, if I can, until October 22, when his regular vet comes back from continuing education courses.  If it gets any worse before then, I'll try to find someone to help ease his pain.  I love him so, he as been at my side, much like a faithful dog and I don't want to let him down.  I can't see anymore through my tears.

Peg,

So glad you both had a good day on Thursday.  Keeping you in our prayers.  {{hugs}}

I don't know why our fur babies have to suffer.  It's not fair.   They are so innocent.

I have found a few case studies, this is so rare in cats,

I only list these as you mentioned you looked at studies.

These were a few studies I was able to find.  Some others you needed to have a subscription to read them.

This one talks about myeloma -related disorders in 24 cats.  Not sure if this one is multiple myeloma or not.

Peg, Sending you more prayers and wishes for both you and Gizmo.  From what JustMe posted, it seems like chemo is a good treatment for this disease.  I just want you to know that I've gone through chemo with one of my cats, and it's totally different from chemo in people.  There are very few if any side affects in cats as there are in people.  You would never know my cat was on the chemo and she had no side affects at all.  In case you want to consider chemo, it didn't affect her appetitite, her energy, no hair loss, no sores, etc.  Take care and we're all here for you.

Prayers for you and Gizmo, Peg.  I'm hoping that if you use the meds that Gizmo will have a very positive response.

Peg and Gizmo, Our thoughts and prayers to you.  I wish there was something we all could do to make this easier for you.  That is the trouble with "internet friends" we're not physically close, just emotionally.  Hugs to you from all of us (one with cancer too) Kiss
