Blessed Christmas, everyone, and thank you so much for your good wishes.

I'm voting for an even bigger miracle in 2008. I'm voting that AAFCO will have
learned from the suffering of 2007's pet food recalls. That AAFCO will realize
it has gone too far in its chemically concocted Franken-food produced for pets.
That AAFCO will trash the entire Official Publication ingredient list, re-examine every
ingredient, including GRAS, and truly start producing food that is safe and beneficial
for the health and welfare of companion pets that is clearly labeled for the consumer.
Please ask yourselves, AAFCO, who buys food for their pet family members that is
only designed to keep them alive for six months? It's way past time to trash that concept.
The consumer would pay for truly decent food, but AAFCO and all the manufacturers
have a long way to go in producing that food. Start in January 2008 in San Antonio, Texas.

In the mean time, while these companies are figuring out what is decent, healthful food, I'm
hoping that consumers will follow the advice I received here on Itchmo some time ago by
wiser Itchmo posters: fire all the current producers and make your own food out of decent
ingredients that don't produce IBD, renal failure, diabetes, and cancer as part of the "by-products."

Absolutely.  Take control of what the fur babies eat... that's empowerment.  It's such a shame that many many loving pet parents are not in a position to do that... makes me sad and wish I could do something for them.  Yet, it must be said... just like 5Cat has said... "real food...your best defense."
