The vet suggested IBD, megacolon, string, telescoped intestine, mouse caught crosswise, even tumors. She wants to look at some barium x-rays and ultrasound, before resorting to endoscopy or exploratory surgery. His WBC count has come down some, which makes operating safer.
It came on so rapidly. Poor Chow.

Arlo, I just saw this about Chow. Glad the WBC is coming down, hope the fever has lowered too. Keeping him in my prayers.

a jail break! what an enterprising little Chow! Did the vet do an x-ray of the abdomen? could it be severe constipation? at any rate, the barrium test will show what's what hopefully. poor Chow... I so hope they figure it what's wrong so he can be treated appropriately and get well all the sooner

Arlo- The fact that Chow broke out & attacked is a good sign. At least not to sick to try to escape. Hope you get some answers soon.

I can get him tomorrow. He had mouse debris in there. He was highly offended at the cleanout process. I'm so relieved. He's such a goofy guy. She wants to check his temp and WBC count in the AM and then I can bring him home. He'll need monitoring for awhile. Maybe I should join the talkin' stool thread.
I thank all of you for your kindness. I was so worried when she mentioned bowel tumors. Thank you again!
She was also very surprised that he could open the cage. The techs thought maybe they hadn't checked well enough, but he did it twice today. They have a bungee cord on it now.

Arlo- Very glad to hear he's coming home ! Tell him to cut back on the mouse intake . Ferals are very smart,Punkin has to be bungeed in crates also. I bought a top opening 1 but after 3 times in it,he figured that 1 out too.

HAHA, What a smart guy. i'm so glad that's all it is. Although i'm not sure what it was- what mouse debris? I thought cats could always handle a mouse? anyway, i'm happy for you and Chow.

Chow usually eats half a mouse and gives me the other half. (Thanks, guy.) According to the vet, he didn't chew this mouse enough and there were some pretty big chunks.

I'm glad the problem has been found & removed, and Chow-down gets to come home tomorrow! Hey he just had to compete with all these pet foods that have bone fragments in them. That's funny that he learned to get out of the cage. Smart little feral cat.
