Well she has seemed "off" for at la couple weeks now, huge hairballs upchucked (Ned I hear you on the hairballs can't wait for whenever shedding season ends..if it does), and she seems lethargic and to have an uncomfortable mouth & smacking lips like nausea and extra fussy about foods.  So off to the vet. Bug is 9 pounds. Mouth a little redness doc said not terrible, and not a terrible high temp 102 or 102+. I guess borderline? but she really feels hot.  But as a precaution she got fluids and came home with clavamox. Smokey the darling girl has been going off on a hissy fit at her since we got home and poor Bug is just staring at her confused.
DH is hissing about the expense, so I guess it is one step at a time we will see how this goes. Any dental procedure (Smokes will probably need one too, oh she'll be one fun patient) is way out of budget now anyhow.
Always something.  Tongue

Hairball season sucks. Hopefully the fluids and Clavamox will help her feel better, poor baby.

Poor Bug. Glad you were able to get her in at the vet. If she's ill because of dental inflammation that wouldn't be visualized without anesthesia, the Clavamox should clear that up, too. Hopefully she will be feeling herself in short order.  Sending you all kinds of good thoughts.

I was worried about Oreo's teeth too , but since the antibiotics all looks good . Not doing unnecessary anesthesia on a 17 year old . If the drugs work , just keep an eye on them .

I hope Bugaboo will feel better soon.  And I hope Smokey is treating her nicely now.

Ugh, hairballs! I hope the clavamox and fluids help Bugaboo feel better. It's so stressful having a kitty that doesn't feel good. Smoggy felt hot too but his temp was normal. I wonder if there's a stomach bug going around. I hate not knowing the cause. Is she still eating some?

I hope Bug feels better soon. It is so stressful when one of your kitties does not feel well.

Thank you everyone. She has been eating, I think vet gave her a one-tme appetite stimulant besides antibiotic. Last night she ate extra. But today she had normal appetite. She pees ok, may have had a couple of small stools last night, will try to watch her for that. I got a little hairball gel into her. will look for some canned pumpkin tomorrow.
I get physically ill when one of these kits are ill, and of course all sorts of dire scenarios replay in my mind.
If she starts to feel yucky again I guess a blood test is next. Don't really want to think about that. Didn't want to put her through it yesterday or listen to DH howling over expense-the vet raised his prices.
As for Smokey she is still being somewhat of a crabby tabby, but she's toned it down. A couple of times she licked Bugs head and nuzzled before she hissed. Talk about mixed messages!

Meowli, you sound like me.  I almost didn't get another cat this last time because I get too upset and sick myself when they're sick.  ugh.  Hopefully Bugaboo has perked up even more by this time tomorrow.  If you think it would help, tell your DH that if you don't spend the money now, it will only cost more later.  Wink  The sicker they are, the more it costs!

I'm glad Bugaboo is eating normally today and Smokey is being better about things.  I hear you on the feeling ill when the kitties are unwell!  Fingers crossed for you and Bugaboo that the Clavamox does the trick and things get back to normal.

Me, too, I make myself physically ill when one of mine seems off.    Sad

Sending continued good thoughts for more and more normal ol' regular behavior!

Meowli, I am another one who gets really physically ill when one of mine is sick, and of course I'm not great at the moment anyway.
I hope you can sort things out for Bugaboo quickly without too much  trouble and expense. Sending positive thoughts your way.

Sad I hope Bug is feeling better.

I don't get physically ill, I just start worrying about everything!  I second guess, tripple guess, quadruple guess myself until I'm absolutely incapable of making a decision at all.   Embarrassed
