Thanks bug.  We think she's about 16 years old.  She was a lost and found kitty that we adopted from the shelter in 1996.  We think she was about 1 1/2 then.  We fell in love with her there, because she was all over us in the introduction room.  We thought she looooved us Grin  Turns out she was just in heat!  But even after being spayed, she kept up her lovin' ways.  She's a lover, not a fighter Wink

The vet said that the mirtazapine has anti-nausea qualities in addition to the app. stim.  She was vomiting before I gave it to her, so I don't think the med is the cause of it.

She just now lost the baby food I gave her 1/2 hour ago. Sad  I think I'll be calling the vet.

That's no good. I don't understand the vet's thought about not doing anymore bloodwork. It can tell you if her BUN is higher than usual and that will cause vomiting. Maybe see about getting her a shot of Zantac. That has always worked for Katey when she used to go on her 3 day puking spree.

DH is going to pick up some Zofran injections (for nausea) on his way home from work.  I asked about Slippery Elm, but my vet is not familiar with it and wants to check out how it affects kidneys before letting me try it  Roll Eyes  I told them it's recommended on the crf website.  Whatever.

The vet doesn't see any need for more labs because because she says nothing changes how we are treating her at this point.  We are in hospice mode, keeping her comfy if possible.  Her last results from a few days ago indicate that she's very close to end stage, very high BUN and creatinine.   She said that it all depends on how Fizzy's body can tolerate the increasing toxins.

Maybe other vets would see this differently.  But I'm in agreement with her.  If Fizzy can keep some food down, and keeps looking like she wants to be around, then fine.  I'm not going to let her waste away, though.  I just can't do that.  I have regrets about hanging on too long with Scooby Cry  As hard as it is to say goodbye, it's even harder for me to watch them decline.  DH is the total opposite, though, so hopefully we'll get it right Undecided

Continuing prayers for Fizzy, that she stays comfy and the med will help her hold the food down.

Having been through this, I have to say your vet is probably right. I hope she rallies and you have more time together. I'm sure you will get it right, you are watching her carefully and will know when she is ready. Big hugs coming your way.

I'm sending healing thoughts for Fizzy. I'm sorry she's feeling sick and vomiting. I hope you can get her stomach settled with the injections.

She ate a little this morning!  She came into the kitchen and waited while I made her plate Shocked  She ate about 1/6 of a 5.5 oz can.  And she just ate her BP pill meatball on her own.

When I went to bed last night I was pretty worried and depressed.  She didn't look good and refused to eat.  I guess the anti-nausea injection kicked in overnight.  We had waited to give it to her bacause she had not vomited for several hours, and we were chicken.  Lesson learned I hope.  The injection was really very easy.

Again, many many thanks for all the warm thoughts and prayers Kiss   This roller coaster ride is easier because you're all on it with me  Smiley

Aaw Fizzy1, those roller-coaster rides are tough.  I know too well about being chicken with meds, sometimes it has turned out justified.   Tell our sweet Fizzy to keep on eating and send her head scritches from Sophers.  Fizzy, you, and your DH, continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
