Sorry Fizzy had some high BP, but her playfulness sounds very encouraging! Hoping you have lots more time with her!

Sending more love for Fizzy!   Kiss   The vet visit didn't sound so bad, and it's so great to hear her BP is lower, even if it's still in the danger zone.

 Grin  You all cheer me up!  Thank you  Kiss    Today she's been pretty quiet, and I've had to coax her to eat.  But that's nothing new.  As has been mentioned here before, it's a roller coaster ride Undecided  Some days are better than others.

Today's BP is higher than on Monday, so we go back for another reading on Saturday.  She couldn't see much change in the retinas, but said it could take a couple of weeks to heal.

The vet said she really has nothing more to offer for her kidney disease, other than Azodyl and fluids.  We've tried Azodyl in the past, but I can't get it into Fizzy.  She won't eat it sprinkled on foods, and the capsules are too big for her to swallow.  She wants us to increase her subq's, as tolerated, to 125-150 ml a day.  Fizzy is not a good candidate for IV's, and we don't want to do them anyway.  The vet doesn't see any reason to do more labs at this point.  She sent us home with mirtazapine for an appetite stimulant.

Mrs Kisses jumped up on our bed this AM to wash me  Grin  She hasn't done that for several days!

Continued prayers for Fizzy, sorry about the bp -as with humans, maybe a dose adjustment will be made in the medication. But... jumping up on the bed is a very good sign. Hope her appetite continues to improve.

Can the Azodyl be dissolved ? You could try putting it in broth or stock & pouring onto the food. I hope Fizzy has hit a plateau and you have lots more quality time with her.

I'm keeping Fizzy in my prayers and hoping that she improves with time.  Fizzy, you might want to join the Yahoo CRF Group Forum.  I am not a member, but there are members on the Hyper-T forum who also belong to the crf group because their kitties have both problems.  They say that they have gotten much good advice and support from that group.  I know that the Hyper-T group is very supportive and helpful to members new and old, so I would expect the same since there are some of the same people in both groups.  I really don't even need to stay on the Hyper-T forum since Mandy was cured with the radioiodine treatment, but I do visit there anyway just so I can offer support to others and share whatever information I can to help them.  Others do the same, and I think that there are probably members on the crf forum who have had long-term experience managing crf kitties that may be able to offer you some advice based on personal experience.  It can't hurt to give it a try if only to do some reading there to look for information.  Wish I could offer more, but I have no experience with crf since none of my kitties every had it.  (Knock on wood - Mandy may be prone to it since she had the hyper-T, but so far so good).  {{hugs}}

Hoping for Fizzy's BP to drop some more. Jumping up to give you a lil wash up sounds like a good sign she is feeling a lil better. May she continue to have many more loving days with you and DH.

I'm glad she seems to be feeling good. How about mushing the Azodyl into a piece of cheddar cheese? Or does she like milk or yogurt - you could put it in that?

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.  Please keep them coming, if you can.  She's not doing so hot.  She has vomited 4 times since the vet appt.  She's very restless.  She has lost a 1/2 pound since 11/11.  The stimulant did get her to eat, though.

The Azodyl is a no-go.  I tried it every which way last summer.  She won't touch it, and at this point I'm not going to torture her to get it into her.

MC, I joined the Yahoo groups last summer.  I was pretty disappointed in the way they are set up.  You can access the informational links easily, but to search the forum is nearly impossible.  I do think that Tanya's site is awesome, I go there frequently for info.  But thanks for the suggestion  Kiss

Awww. Poor girl. I guess the mirtazapine stimulates more than just appetite. Do you think she's vomiting because of it or is she eating more than she's used to and it's coming back up? I know it's in this or another thread somewhere, but how old is Fizzy?

More prayers for both of you and I hope she can settle down.
