It's a great food! One thing I must reiterate is when it says wait 10 minutes after you add the water to give it to your pet, wait 10 minutes. I have to put it in the microwave (just to keep it away from my cats, they're that crazy for it) if it doesn't have 10 minutes to soak up the water the cats get the worst gas.

I am home cooking, but have used Honest Kitchen's Force and Thrive for days when we have been without power or bad weather.  My dog does like it. I did notice stools are bigger on it than on home cooked.  You do have to hydrate it for a minimum of 10min. You don't want excess dehydrated food sitting in a dog's tummy.  The company also suggests that 1/2 cup of meat be added and some raw veggies. When speaking with the company they said do not microwave, use warm water to hydrate. If you have left over food, immeadiately refrig. To warm the second meal;add warm water -

I've had my Frenchie on the Embark formula of Honest Kitchen. His allergies have seemed to clear up and he's doing well on it.
I tried the Prowl formula for my cats though, and they all looked at me like I was nuts.

I am feeding Honest Kitchen Preference to a 14 year old dog with early indications of kidney impairment.  Following the recommendations on the Dogaware website here:

http://www.dogaware.com/kidney.html#non-prescription

I selected 80% ground beef, ground chicken thigh, ground pork and ground bison (all raw) as the four meats I mix in (in rotation).  These have phosphorus levels that are low enough to not overstress his kidneys.

After about 3 months on this food, his kidney values have dropped back enough that his vet is pleased, so until or unless something changes, I will stick with this food for him.

Oh - and with regards to the large chunks of dried veggies and fruit that he tends to eat around - I pulverize the dry Preference in my food processor upon receipt.  No more picking around the veggies!

Oh - and with respect to Katie's comment - I was also noticing larger stools (could have to do with my guy's advanced age which often brings a less efficient digestive system with it).  I've started adding a digestive enzyme (e.g. Prozyme, Syner-G) and that has made a huge difference.  Well, SMALL difference actually, since his stools are no longer huge!  LOL!

Hi everyone -

Just got word Honest Kitchen will be sold at Cutter's Mill stores now.
Thought I'd pass the word.
