I'm in South Georgia. We've been mixing this brand with our regular brand for a few weeks now, for variety and the dogs love it.
It's manufactured by Diamond.  Undecided  So far , so good....
The reason I decided to give it a try was because the list of ingredients look
impressive and I was trying to cut back on grains slowly to see how they do.
There are no grains in this food.

In Indiana. Wiggles, our 12 year-old Basset is just now transitioning off of Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. He loved it. I know Diamond makes this food, but that doesn't concern me too much (their recall issues had to do with grains, which, obviously, Taste of the Wild doesn't have). Wiggles' experience was great, and I will definitely bring it back into the rotation in the future.

I called this comp and spoke to the D.V.M. (or at lest she said she was) no one could tell me where they source their protiens from and they could not tell me what their fish is preserved with. This says to me, "yes we use harmful preservatives!" This is why they don't have foil lined packages. not impressed!

About a month ago bought a bag to try and Foxy Lady ate the first two bowls but then it was a no go. Very potent aroma from the food-you could tell it was from the birds on the ingredient list. Returned remainder to the store.

Yupper, JustMe:  I do......the dry (I guess they have canned but don't know for sure).

I've used it before (I think this is the bison.......if you want I can check) & Hannah did just fine on it.  Right now I'm at the bottom of a bag of Merrick's BG & have been mixing TOTW in for a little while now.  I believe both times I got the bison or whatever that flavor is.  If anyone wants to know for sure, I'll go look at the bag & tell you for sure.

I also have a friend using it but I believe she's using a different flavor.  Her dog is doing great on it. Grin

So far so good!

High Prairie Canine Formula w/Bison & Venison.

I couldn't remember if it was bison or venison......turns out it's both.  Duh!

I tried it, and my two dogs (Lhasa and poodle/terrier mix) both liked it just fine
but my daughter's malti-poo, who lives with us, wasn't crazy about it.  We went
back to the brand that all three like, but I had no problems with this food.  It is
less expensive than the brand we've settled on and more readily available at a
feed store in a near-by town.

Thanks JJ and Jan.  Yes, I would be interested in what flavor dry.
Flavor dry I tried was Wetlands Canine Formula. Also has tomato pomace on it and do not know if it was on Susan Thixton's site or where that this is not really good for a dog. Can't recall what it does to them but just noticed it when I went to the site to look up the flavor for you JustMe. Plus it has a high protein content and I didn't think the food was reasonably priced - thought it was quite expensive, same as Orijen.

My only gripe is where it's made.  However, as we all know, if you want to avoid a particular food because of where it's made & all the problems they've had at that particular place, that pretty much lets out most all commercial food because one place makes so many different brands.  We all learned that the hard way in '07.  Some have just had a lot more problems than others.

The only thing that I feel is safe is to switch around so you never feed any one thing for long periods of time.  I realize with cats that's a lot easier said than done......& a lot of small dogs are picky too.

And then there's Miss Hannah.  She will eat anything......& I do mean anything!  So it's up to me to be sure it's safe & healthy too. Shocked

Hi All, I have started using the Prairie formula of TOTW, I don't really want to, but my dogs do well on it.  I wish I could send the telephone conversation I had with this person last year about the fish meal preservative concern I had.  What she told me made my throw my bag of the food out last year, she told me when I asked if the co. uses Etoxiquin, that yes, but since they cook the crap out of the food the Ethoxiquin actually leaves the product.............huh?   I said no, since it is a rubber preserver and used in the tire manufacturing process, its very heat stability is what makes it such a wonderful product in high heat situations, i.e. Tucson summers!  What a crock of crap.
Like I said, we hate using it, but we don't use it exclusively.  Also, be very aware and leery of any dog or cat food that uses fish meal or any fish products, if it is deemed for use as a pet food ingredient, it is sprayed with Ethoxquin, undoubtably.

Debi.......I agree that there are just way too many crappy ingredients in most every pet food out there.  However, if you start checking ingredients, you'll find a lot of dry food has fish meal in it.   Then you can start avoiding certain manufacturers of pet food.......next thing you know, you'll have nothing to feed.

I made myself crazy all though 07 trying to keep my dog from getting sick or worse........which is when I decided to research home cooking & give it a try, use a small amount of kibble & switch brands after every bag.  It's been two years & it seems like all I do is keep crossing brands off my "safe" or "here's-hoping-it's-safe" list.

I'm not asking for much:  all I want is a safe pet food that I can feed my dog & not worry about her getting sick or dying from the newest toxin of the month. Angry

Jan, yep thats me, I just keep painting myself into a corner, now I am feeding raw, kibble,Country Pet from N.Z. the former, my dogs have been on for 2 years and do extremely well on it, but you either have to order it or get it at Whole Foods. I agree with you totally, and just try not to stick with one thing, I do not trust the fish meal in any pet food tho, I notice when I bought my cat a product called Nutrience, by Wysong, it doesn't contain fishmeal, so I am happy about that.
