I have used Pet Promise for over a year and a half, way before the recalls(Pet Promise was never a part of any recall). I recently bought a new bag and noticed my Mn-Pins (Ellie and Lucy) were just not as excited to eat it as they had been. A few times they even threw up. While that has not happened in a week, I was still concerend. I did take them both to the vet and both checked out fine, even did blood tests checked it all. I e-mailed them and here is the response I recieved. I wanted to post in case others use this brand. I do want to change, any recommendations? Nutro?
Thank you for contacting Pet Promise.
We apologize for your recent disappointing experience with our product. Please know that there have been some recent changes to our Pet Promise(r) brand Dog Food - Daily Health Formula. While we have made changes to the product, we would not expect your dogs to experience intestinal upset when eating the new product. The changes to the product are listed below for your convenience.
Current:
Chicken, brewers rice, corn gluten meal, oat meal, pearled barley, fat naturally preserved with mixed-tocopherols (form of Vitamin E), dried egg product, soy flour, calcium phosphate, natural flavor, calcium carbonate, potassium chloride, salt, vitamins (Vitamin E supplement, niacin, Vitamin A supplement, calcium pantothenate, thiamin mononitrate, riboflavin supplement, Vitamin B-12 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, Vitamin D-3 supplement, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity)), choline chloride, minerals (zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, calcium iodate, sodium selenite), L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of Vitamin C)
Prior to June 2007:
Chicken, brewers rice, corn gluten meal, oat groats, pearled barley, vegetable oil preserved with mixed-tocopherols, egg product, soy flour, dicalcium phosphate, natural flavor, calcium carbonate, potassium chloride, salt, vitamins (Vitamin E supplement, niacin, Vitamin A supplement, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, riboflavin supplement, Vitamin B-12 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, folic acid, Vitamin D-3 supplement, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity)), choline chloride, minerals (zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, calcium iodate, sodium selenite), L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of Vitamin C).
If you have any of the old formula remaining or can purchase a package of the old formula at your store, you might try to mix the old formula with the new over the period of a few days. Or if the old formula is unavailable, we suggest that you try feeding your dogs multiple small feedings, rather than 1-2 large meals, to allow your dogs' intestinal tracts to adjust more slowly.
Please know that we will report your experience to the appropriate members of our team. If the symptoms persist, we would recommend that you consult your Veterinarian to rule out a health concern
